Smile Look what the stork brought us - Introducing Twiggy

Hi everyone!

Yesterday we adopted this little beauty. We believe she's a calico Sphynx (that's what the papers say) but she could also be a mix. She's 6 and she's a crazy purrer and drooler. She's pretty small (7.5 lbs) even though these pics may suggest she's larger.
She still needs some additional baths and ear cleaning and we are doing that slowly

From some angles she's a beauty and from other angles she's a gremlin, lol.

We haven't given her an official name yet - her temporary shelter name was twiggy. We are thinking of other names and 2 that come to mind are;

Joya (gioia - joy in Italian)
Piccola (small in Italian)

We'll consider other names if anyone has suggestions - so without further adieu, look what the stork brought!

Congratulations Marko - she's beautiful! She looks like she has a lot of character, and I'm sure she'll bring you many many years of happiness and amusement. How wonderful that you were able to rescue so quickly. Did she have any history, like why she was up for adoption?

ThX DD! I was scouring the rescues for a while and was even prepared to drive to florida but that didn't pan out...and then this little beauty shows up right here in my hometown. Huge savings in gas Apparently she was removed from a home that had way way too many pets. The first pics we saw of her (which I won't post) showed that she was quite neglected in terms of the grooming needs of Sphynxs.
Now she has us all to herself until we find her a friend.

What a beautiful little girl!! I've never heard of a calico sphynx before--I love her markings! In that second shot she looks like she's mulling over the fact that her new Dad is a member of the pawparazzi. But by the third shot she seems to have come to terms with the idea and is okay with it.

Congratulations to all three of you!!!

Congratulations on your new addition.

She is an abolutely adorable little naked kitty.

She does look like she could be a calico with the two distinct colors plus white.

I especially love the last pic. She has such intense look in her eyes.

I think Joya would be fitting as I'm sure she will bring you a lot of joy. I do also like the name Piccola. It has a nice ring to it.

Congrats! A calico naked kitty . Lucky kitty to be adopted by Mr. & Mrs. Marko.

Is there a story behind how she ended up in rescue? Cause us nosey people really have this need to know things

You do a poll for the kitty's name.

I guess her history isn't important, just that she has a wonderful home now!

Marko, first off congrats to you and Mrs Marko!!
You should have watched "Cats from hell"yesterday, they showed a Sphinx kitty and explained all about them, they are not like any ordinary kitty(not that there is such a thing, they are all special),but it was mentioned a Sphinx is like a Jack Russel in the doggie-world,very,very energetic, but I am sure you have looked up info on this very special kitty.

Thanks so much for the comments everyone!
We still can't decide on the name - could be worse
So for now we are still calling her Twiggy.
She's settling in pretty well actually.
Some vocalizations suggesting to me (hey where is everybody?.... but it all seems fairly normal).
She used to be in a place w/way too many animals from what we heard -
she'll get a friend soon enough
thx again!

I've read and heard that if changing a name of pet, it's best to keep the same consonant (or first letter) of the their existing name to introduce a new name. Has she always been called Twiggy?

If her previous name was Twiggy and you want to name her something in Italian, maybe something like Tepore (warmth) or if she's really vocal....Tenore!
