Owners like this are the reason we have BSL

http://www.thesudburystar.com/Articl...aspx?e=3095698

I'm curious where the dog is right now honestly.

Quote:
Greater Sudbury Police say a man who tried to sic his pit bull on a neighbour ended up being attacked by his own animal.

A 25-year-old Sudbury man is facing three charges after the confrontation with his neighbour on Worthington Crescent in the Riverside Drive.

Police said a Worthington Crescent man noticed a man who was walking a pit bull urinate in his yard about 8:30 p.m. Words were exchanged between the two men and the dog owner began trying to goad the animal into attacking the other man, telling him his pit bull would tear him apart, police allege.

The man began hitting his dog in an attempt to make it more aggressive, police said, and that's when the animal turned on him and bit him on the face and arm.

A witness came to the dog owner's rescue, pulling the pit bull off the man, who police said was still not finished with his fight.

He apparently threw a punch at his neighbour before leaving and coming back with another man, and again tried to get his dog to attack. The dog owner was holding a dog chain and tried to attack the homeowner with it.

Police arrived shortly after and the dog owner was arrested.

He was charged with assault, assault with a weapon, and breach of probation.

Its not terrible but its near the West end. I lived behind the old Northern Breweries in College which is right by Riverside.
I hadn't heard about it until seeing the interview on the news.

I'm impressed with the news coverage here about it. Not placing blame on the dog

And the news article is a little vague about who was urinating on the lawn... it wasn't the dog.
If we ever get word of where the dog is I will post, but it is still a mystery

You're right BenMax (as always ), complete stupidity . I am so glad that karma came back to bite the owner in the butt . I hope the pittie is in a safe place and will be transported out of the province to ensure it's safety. The dog deserves to live.

Chico, I meant it as it wasn't the dog.
Seriously though, who does that? Stop to urinate on someones lawn?

There is a lot of people inquiring about the dog, including a very well known rescue for these guys. Lets hope this moron doesn't ever get a chance to have the dog back

Well, if it is an illegal pitbull and the people that have her don't get out of Ontario, it will probably be euthanized .

Stupid people who own illegal pitbulls in Ontario should be facing very hefty fines and the dogs should be given to rescues who will transport them out. It's not the dogs fault they are in Ontario, it is the owners .

I am afraid you are right. This dog is not going to be given a free pass because of a numb nut's actions. Let's not forget that the dog turned on his owner (regardless of the circumstances of why). Do people honestly think that this dog will be forgiven? He is not forgiven for being born a pit, and he certainly will not be forgiven for biting his idiotic owner.

We here are pulling dogs out of Ontario just based on his/her appearance. These dogs did absolutely nothing to the public but walk outside to enjoy life like any other breed or type of dog that would.

This dog is doomed unless moved out of province period!
Sorry to be such a downer, but that is reality.

not to mention that the dog was not wearing a muzzle when out in public. by rights, the officer (police or aco) would have had the right to seize the dog right then and there.

Had the dog been there yes, but the guy left and returned when the police showed up.
Lack of muzzle indeed makes this whole situation worse, but, there is no age given for this pitbull, if it is over 5.5 years old, its grandfathered, however, now that there was an attack by it. Yes the dog is doomed once found (if found) the "pitbull" that killed a yorkie last year was never found and no one is looking for it anymore I dont think

Erykah, I am a former Animal Protection Officer..grandfathered or not..a pit can still be put down. "grandfathered." means these restricted pit bulls can stay in the province as long as they're sterilized, and leashed and muzzled in public.

Yes the animal has now attacked. Put this into a whole new ball game. Proof of rabies vaccine is one and is this dog sterilized...considering the fact that the dog was not wearing a muzzle..i highly doubt the owner has obeyed the laws pertaining to the pitbull legistation.

also police are usually not fimimlar with animal related bylaws. I am sure their local spca will be contacted and an ACO officer will do a follow up on the situation.

I know the dog can and most likely would still be put down and odds are the dog is not over 5.
The SPCA here and BIN volunteers are indeed looking for this dog.

Thank you NoahGrey for your knowledge and explaining that 'grandfathered' does not mean a free pass. We took in a 7 year old recently. I appreciate all that you can educate on this subject matter right from the trenches

No one said grandfathered was a free pass. Where is that coming from?
What I was saying, not every bully in Ontario is illegal, this one "could" have been over the age grandfathering it in the province however the dog not being muzzled puts it into the illegal category immediately.
But by the sounds of this guy though, I highly doubt the dog was.
