I am so sad to hear that you had to let Chloe go Frenchy. You gave her an amazing year and an incredible amount of love.

Thanks for all your support

The house feels so empty .... to "loose" 2 dogs on the same day (Milou left for his new family Thursday night) Bailey and Nelly are sleeping a bit more , makes it very calm and silent

I found myself looking at the floor every time I'm about to get up , Chloe would always be beside me and I had to watch so I wouldn't step on her. When I went to bed , I looked at the teddy that's on my desk , I use to give it to Chloe when she came to bed , she would always sleep with it , I would put it back on the desk in the morning so Nelly wouldn't destroy it. It was Chloe's baby. she had other stuffies for day time. Her polar bear from 14+ , funny how Nelly never damaged that one. Maybe she knew Chloe liked that one too much.

It's so unfair , just when , after all these months , we finally got the cushings under control , this had to happen. she never got a break

One good thing came out of this , some of you know how unsatisfied I was with my ex vet , so I took her to the vets where the rescue sent me for Milou. I was amazed , all the vets and staff , were all so nice. I got to spend all the time I wanted with Chloe yesterday , alone in a comfy and peaceful room. I wasn't traumatised like when we did this at my ex vet. I am very thankfull to those new vets , and will make sure to send them a card. From now on , I will bringing my pets there. It's a bit far for me but well worth the drive. I still can't believe how warm and nice they were with me and Chloe.

Frenchy, I am so sorry. Chloe was a sweetheart, reminded me so much of my Briar, who is also small. Please find some peace in how much she loved you and how happy she was with you. A to you and a big hug for your guys.

Awww Frenchy, I'm so sorry. Doesn't matter how old they are, it's never long enough. You were kind to have let her go.... it's was her time......

The Last Battle
If it should be that I grow frail and weak,

And pain should keep me from my sleep,

Then will you do what must be done,

For this, the last battle, can't be won.

You will be sad I understand,

But don't let grief then stay your hand,

For on this day, more than the rest,

Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,

You wouldn't want me to suffer so.

When the time comes, please, let me go.

Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,

Only, stay with me till the end

And hold me firm and speak to me,

Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree,

It is a kindness you do to me.

Although my tail its last has waved,

From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don't grieve that it must be you,

Who has to decide this thing to do;

We've been so close,we two, these years,

Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Oh Frenchy. I cannot tell you how very sorry I am for the loss of Chloe. I had hoped she would overcome this.

You gave her so much love in the time you had her. I'm happy that her last year of life was with you, because I know she was happy and felt loved and at home.

thanks everyone ...

BMD , that pic , kinda looks like little miss Chloe a bit love the poem.

It is the hardest decision to take , and then to live with it.

3 dogs in 3 years .... I did put myself in these positions , by adopting older dogs. I sometimes think I won't be able to do it again but .... it's so unfair for these older ones to be dumped in shelters or rescues , after a lifetime of loyal services to their masters , to just be discarded this way ....

it is hard for any dogs , at any age but the older ones , not too many people want them.

Chloe was almost already 12 years old when I adopted her , she still had spunk , made me laugh , still played with stuffies , was so adorable and loving , I'm still so thankfull to the rescue lady from RR Horses to have worked her a** off to save Chloe from euthanasia. You don't have a dog put down just because you're getting a divorce ....

Frenchy, hubby asked why you foster and adopt mostly older dogs and I said, because you are a very special person.
These elderly dogs are very lucky there is a person like you,you know you'll suffer when the end is near, but you do this for a totally unselfish reason.
Dumped and discarded dogs find a haven in your home and that makes you a doggie- angel.
I am sure you'll do it all again, you just cannot say no to a greyish muzzle and big sad eyes and that's why we love you

Just read about this in another thread. I am so very very sorry Frenchy. Gosh I know how hard you tried. She was lucky to have you for the time she did. You are one heck of a mommy!

Bless you dear Chloe. May you find new youth.

Frenchy, as I told you in person...You made the right decision. Doesn't make it an easy one by far, but it was a very brave thing to do. I know first-hand also, how awful it feels to decide, and you always keep thinking "what if...", but it was the right decision. You have done more for her than anyone in her life, including spare her the pain and the humiliation of going ahead in the state that she was in.

I am thinking of you and sending you (((((HUGS)))).

You will meet again, at the Rainbow Bridge, where she will be waiting for you.... She is pain-free and young again and Sam will take good care of her till all of you meet again.

Run free, sweet Chloé.

Im so sorry my friend, I know how much your dogs mean to you, your dogs, fosters, forevers and your kitties too. You are a wonderful person and so so much for these animals, she lived her last year with you and your crew, it was probably the best year of her life.

Big hugs my friend. xoxo

no worries L4H , it surprised me too  I thought we were "off the hook" with her cushings under control , I thought her limping was due to a small injury ... never thought I was to come back home without her.

It's so sad when we take them to the vet and WHAM - we never get to bring them home again. I've had that happen to me too, and it's such a shock. Bless you Frenchy for giving Chloe the best of love for the last part of her life. You are an Earth Angel for these senior dogs, I'm not sure if my heart could handle that. You are brave and giving and I'm certain you are rewarded many times over for what you do for these pups. RIP Chloe your family (and your Pets family) will miss you.
