Mealtime Manners
Another question about my little 4-month old. Judging from his behavior when I eat, I'm pretty sure that his previous family not only fed him people food, but did so during their own mealtimes. Whenever I eat anything containing meat or dairy products, he is up on the table trying to help himself, even if he's just eaten. I'm left trying to eat with one hand while continually putting him back on the floor with the other. My last cat would occasionally try to talk me into giving her some of my food, but I don't remember her being this brazen about it.
With other unwanted behavior, it's easy to distract him with a toy. But when it's a matter of food that he thinks is rightfully his, there is no distracting him. Naturally, I don't give him people food. What else should I be doing to teach him better manners? |

Give him people food. In fact try giving him raw people food. As in raw hamburger, chicken, turkey, etc. Here's a site for you to read. It may surprise you. There are also recipes for making your own cat food and raw cat food.
www.catinfo.org So when you are eating have a little bowl of raw food for him beside you or where he eats. It may just be the very best thing you could do for you little guy. Well, that and getting him a playmate.

I agree with 14+, people food fed appropriately is better for your cat than processed cat food. Think about yourself, what is better for you, fresh fruit and veggies, or processed food?
Give your kitty some raw meat for dinner while you eat and that may satisfy him. Here is a great recipe if you are thinking of making your own cat food, this is the recipe I use: http://www.catinfo.org/?link=makingc...he_Ingredients
