I bought my horse back in 1988 at a slaughter house in Ontario. She was only 8 months old and was a beauty! Broke my heart to walk out with only one! This is so sad. Horses have served man from the beginning of time and this is how we repay them.

We have seven horses, five rescues. If you ride or are involved with horses you owe them.We do not accept shipments of dogs cats or any other companion animal for slaughter, horses deserve the same. The US has ended the slaughter of horses as have many other civilized countries it's about time we joined them.

Yes, the US has ended the slaughter of horses, they now send them North to Canada for slaughter.

There is currently a bill before congress that would end transport to Canada or Mexico of horses for slaughter, fingers crossed. They stopped the transport of horses from England to France for slaughter, now they have to stop them shipping to Spain. And nobody cares how much they are suffering during shipment

My 2 donkeys (as well as three other equines I rescued & adopted out this summer) were destined for slaughter. We are so fortunate to have Lily and Faustus in our lives. We love them so much. They have brought so much joy.
I watched those videos, and and the sales barn stuff too. It's so disgusting I don't even know where to begin. |

Now we have a different problem, though. Now s just bring their horses out to a remote area and release them to fend on their own when they have no more use for them. The horse rescue is up to its eyeballs in abandoned horses.

[QUOTE=Frenchy;681891]I would love to be able to have horsesQUOTE] I was fortuate enough to grow up with 1 horse and 1 pony. My grandpa rescued the pony from being autioned off to a slaughterhouse the day he bought him. I remember him telling my mom, "I just could not let that happen". I remember from the time I was little to early teens I spent every waking moment at my grandparents house. From brushing them, feeding them, making sure they had fresh water, cleaned out the barns. I even taught them to kiss me on the cheek. As my grandparents got older and could no longer care for them, they gave them to a camp/learning/riding for disabled children. They were treated amazling.
