A dedication to Keeper PLS DON'T MENTION ANY RESCUE NAMES

I just wanted to start this thread for anyone who wants to make a dedication to Keeper.

Please don't mention the rescue name involved or any individual names other then the dog. This is purely a dedication to him to wish him well in his new 'afterlife' If you mention the rescue the thread will get closed and there are many people who would just like to say goodbye to him, in their own special way. Including me!

Here's my go at it....

Well getting closer to midnight and I see no turn-a-round now. It's probably all out of our hands now.

I say thank you to all the kind souls who thought enough to send positive thoughts to Keeper, to pray for him and for trying to change the way his short life is ending.

Perhaps through this someone has / will learn something useful...learn enough to prevent another horrible situation like this from happening if just once.
Unfortunately the right people didn't learn in time for Keepers sake.

Ironic isn't it, his name..Keeper. He will definitely be a keeper in God's eyes.

This has all made me very very sad but I'm glad to have some others to share my feelings and thoughts with about this!

I hope s are with you in your final moments Keeper.
and many more from many of us who did our best!

Bless Keeper

I do not know Keeper's story, and probably just as well. I'm crying just knowing that another dog has suffered at the hands of us people. Luba, you and so many of the other wonderful people on this board are truly angels for these furbabies. I am humbled by the good work that you all do. I have my two SPCA dogs and wish in my heart I could do more as you all do. You are angels on earth. Keeper will be watching over you now.

I don't know the story behind Keeper as well, but I am sure he is in heaven with plenty of other lil' angels like my Suzy, and all of our past fur babies. Where he is now is kinder and happier, there is no evil like the kind humans create. There are no humans to toss him to the side uncaringly, no humans to inflict pain upon him, and no humans to choose his fate.

I apologize to him on behalf of humans... it brings tears to my eyes thinking about the pain our kind has caused to so many wonderful animals.

Having followed the story of Keeper through this forum, I am truly saddened. Sad that his "adoptive parents" didn't care enough to help him through his troubles, sad that he went going through so much and was so misunderstood.

I am sorry for the shallowness and cruelty of humans who do not value a life, 4 legged or not. May my old girl Kerri find you and show you all the great napping spots, where the unlimited tennis balls are hidden and know that many many people loved you even without meeting you.

I think AngelEyes1437's signature says it best
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, ...your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, till the last beat of his heart....

YOU OWE IT TO HIM TO BE WORTHY OF SUCH DEVOTION"

Dear Keeper
I don't know why, the people who claimed to love you, have let you die.
But what you don't know is many loving people tried, to set you free, and keep you alive ,they tried really hard, and cried many tears, very worried about your fears.
Just remember this, sweet puppy, it's true, ,so many here really love you, we want to make sure you don't die alone, so we are all here in spirit to lead you to your new home.
Your new home is a glorious one, no pain, no fear, you will have lots of fun.
Huge fields, and lots of toys, yummy bones, you will only know joy. Good boy Keeper, good boy........... RIP

I'm truly saddened by this as I have followed Keeper's story. I'm in tears. It is just so heart wrenching that this poor baby was given up on so soon without much work or effort on his "parents" part. Keeper will no longer feel the pain of abandonment. He will only know love and freedom where he is now.

Oh Keeper!! How very wrong!! I'm so sorry. I didn't know what was happening to you -- and I only now pieced together your story. I am sorry that people can be so selfish and so unfair. My family wants to apologize to you on behalf of humanity. Don't ever doubt -- you are a good puppy.

When you find your happy puppy place in eternity -- please keep an eye out for Moose. (He's the extra fuzzy one with the really soft paws and an addiction to freshly washed towels...) Ask him to lead you among the angels and saints to the softest laps and the kindest feet to lay upon. Rest in peace, Keeper.

Only a puppy....just a young life so ready to face the world wanting a faithful and dedicated family to show him the way!

I think above all the situations and stories, the dogs and cats that have come and gone, the abuse and neglect....this one has hit me hardest of all.

A PUPPY!

I'm with you Sammie tears have flowed a plenty, it's been a very very sad couple of days.

A Voice Beyond Rainbow Bridge

He woke with a start could not figure out where he was.
Why am I warm, why am I safe, why is the world suddenly soft?
Oh yes, the lady that talks so sweet she rubs my ears and rubs my belly.
I like it here wonder if she'll send me back?
It is quiet but I can hear life about me it is a calm, safe feeling.
One I have never known but have dreamt of.
I have only been here a day wonder if they'll let me stay?
Maybe if I'm good and sweet they won't put me on the street.
I'm so confused the lady talks so nice all the time.
I got my own dinner last night without a fight.
I hear some noise wonder if she'll send me back?
She is calling my name how sweet she sounds.
I am here, right here waiting for my ear rub.
Better wag my tail let her know I like her a lot.
There she is, she is so soft wonder if she'll let me stay?
Time to go out she says better not do it on the floor.
Out side with all the others they seem happy here too.
I hope she lets me stay. Wow food again and all my own!
She just rubbed my head and said 'what a good boy.'
Me a good boy wow me a good boy!
Oh that smile of hers hope she lets me stay.
Looks like play time hey I can play too.
She is laughing I remember that sound.
They used to do that when I was little and they liked me.
You know the other people then they just stopped laughing.
Please don't make me go back.
She is on the phone thought I heard my name.
She is looking at me she is smiling.
Better get over there and get one of those ear rubs.
She is talking about me Please don't make me go back.
Still talking about me Wonder what she meant.
She said 'looks like a keeper to me.'
I hope she'll let me stay.
I was never allowed to give kisses wonder what she would do?
Think I'll try.
Oh my, she's got tears in her eyes!
Oh what have I done? A big hug, maybe she'll let me stay.
She said I'm home now talks to me a lot, real nice.
Wow, what a day and it's only just begun!
Imagine having many days like this all together.
Oh, Please let me stay!

found this...

THE KEEPER

Yes I am a keeper
You gave me things to keep
Thoughts, memories, words
All comfort in my sleep

We both chose those words
Keeper I don’t use lightly
Where do you keep yours
I think about mine nightly

The keeping lasts forever
Forever is what you said
Happy to have them with me
Each time I go to bed

Hope this is not in vain
A keeper I chose to be
Hope you hold the thoughts
I keep those sent to me

Remember what you said
Because I always do
A keeper of fond memories
Should last a lifetime through

I think as sad as this is, we should keep this thread alive for ALL the puppies, and ALL the keepers. Remembering what happened to this little guy, and others, and continuing to help. This one slipped through the cracks of humanity, but somehow will remain in our hearts.

Keeper.
Dogsspeed, buddy.

I'm in tears, and sobbing. God, please hold this precious puppy on your lap, and let him feel all the love in our hearts, and the peace and happiness he so deserved. Keeper, you are so loved by so many, I am so very, very sorry. I hope you romp and play, eat all the treats you want, and are filled with the love we send you. {{{{HUGS and KISSES}}}}

Keeper, I had my eye on you when you were first up for adoption. You looked so much like my parents dog, I was very tempted to take you. I wish I did, you wouldn't have ended up in the wrong hands and sentenced to death. You would have been treated like a king, like you you were meant to be. You weren't properly trained therefore you weren't given a chance!

I hope your death wasn't in vain, I hope everyone who has read your story and reading your dedication was touched and willing to help other animals in need.

You died to young, you didn't even make it to your fist birtday. Your an angel now, we need you to guide us, to help other animals in need, so this will NEVER happen again.

I can't believe he died......I'm shocked that his adoptive mom didn't care enough to save him! I would have left my husband if I found out he was cruel enough to let an innocent dog suffer and die due to our neglegence and stupidity for getting a dog in the first place!!

That dog deserved the world, and instead he was taken from it too soon. Sometimes, I am ashamed to call myself a human. We are the most selfish species on the planet, and I hope Keeper's adoptive parents read this and realize how many people know what they did, and why. Even when given the opportunity to find him a good home, they refused. Dumped him off. Let him die. I'm sick to my stomache. So help me God, I am gonna go home to my 3 dogs, 2 of which are rescues, one of which had the same issues, if not WORSE than Keeper, and I'm gonna give them a great big hug and lots of kisses and treats. People getting dogs should realize they're hard work and committment. If a dog misbehaves, it's called training, not dumping him off and getting him killed. I hope his adoptive parents don't have kids. Imagine what would happen to them if one of them broke one of daddy's things! I hope they never get to adopt another dog again. You can tell a lot about people based on how they treat their pets.

My dogs may not be perfect, but neither am I and they still love me. Keeper would have loved his parents no matter what. Even if they chewed his drywall and hydrangeas! They weren't worthy of him, and I pray his soul finds some peace with God. Keeper, you were too beautiful for this world. Rest in Peace little buddy.

I am sorry, but this has been a terrible day,I feel like I lost my own dog
Hundreds of innocent dogs/cats are killed every day,I know that, but why did the adopter even bother coming on here, when all the while she planned on dumping Keeper, like so much garbage?
What did she want from us?? All she managed to do was make he last two days totally miserable,I've cried a million tears for a dog I did not even know
When Moose died, yes,it was very sad,but he was LOVED and cared for,he was very ill, beyond saving...but Keeper was killed!!
I can understand if he was distrustful and maybe a bit aggressive, being pushed around, probably reprimanded by the owners husband, maybe even violently....what's a young pup to do??? He will be defensive!
The OHS,gave him no time, could not wait to kill him and I am hoping the owner feels only half as miserable as many of us here do right now and that they never ever be allowed to adopt ANY animals...
I am sad and really angry, poor, poor missunderstood Keeper
I would like to write the Ottawa HS,does anyone have an e-mail address??

It is not Ottawa HS's fault.Any dog deemed dangerous at any shelter will be killed. If they did not do that, they would be sued, same as a rescue. You should NOT blame the shelter for what happened here.

LL1, Keeper was not a dangerous dog by any means. He was only a puppy doing what most puppies do. His adoptive parents just didn't give him a chance and train him, they gave up on him without ever trying. Keeper would have been easily trained and would have grown out of his puppy stage had he been given the chance.

I can't think of a better way to honor Keeper! When we get our new home, I'd like to plant a hydrangea to bloom just for him!

L1,I do not agree..Keeper had a miserable short life, only to be dumped at OHS,who knows, the husband might even have abused him.
Keeper was more than likely terrified and was defensive, had known no love and acted accordingly.OHS,could have given him more time to adjust, bring out his true personality,he was only a puppy...needed training and most of all love.Several people experienced with dogs, were willing to pull him out of there, but no,they kill him without hesitation...I for one blame the owners, but also OHS,for not giving him a chance...it's all for naught now,Keeper does not exsist anymore and it's a terrible shame
