cat losing it's meow and hacking up saliva..
Hi,
I haven't found anything relating to this spectific ailment. So, I thought I would ask here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My seems to be sick. He has been coughing or hacking up saliva. He has eaten very little lately, and his meow has gotten very weak. Used to be a pet frequently meower and it was a very strong meow. Now...I have just moved him into live with me again after a few years. He is a 7 yr old male, Unneutered..indoor cat. I recently brought home a new kitten but I quickly returned it after realising it could infect my cat. Days after it departed my cat started developing these symtoms. The said kitten that was brought into the home..upon closer inspection had mucusy eyes..? My cat has also started to spray as there are many stray outdoor cats coming to the window. My cat hasn't been vaccinated recently to my memory. What do these symptoms sound like you??? Has anyone had this problem? Any help... what to do? Thanks. |

Your cat could have caught something from the kitten, maybe rhinotracheitis or one of a host of other diseases..
You need to take him to the vet to get whatever meds he needs, and you need to get him neutered. I've never seen an intact tomcat that didn't spray. |

That is a lot of problems, first about the spraying, you need to have him neutered right away and also for the other problem,he needs a vet,he could have contracted something from the kitten or could have ingested some sort of poison, but he needs a vet ASAP.
