Pit Bull Ban upheld in Ontario

Read in the Toronto Star this morning that the Ontario Courts have upheld the Pit Bull Ban in this Province They also overturned a judgement by a Lessor Courts decision earlier in the year that the Legislation regarding Pit Bull X's was too vague

Basically anyone with a Lab X, Boxer X etc , BEWARE!!!

Obviously I'm an idiot, because I honestly thought there was a good chance that the insanity and ineffectiveness of this legislation would be brought to light, like a big collective 'D'Oh'

Silly, silly me.

I'll join you in the Idiot Club, I was hoping that in light of the lifting of the ban in the Netherlands, that it would definately make them think. Their next step I suppose, if they can raise funds would be to take it to the Supreme Court. Not sure though if a Court that high would review something like this.

It says that if a Dog is caught at large and impounded and deemed to be a Pittie or Pittie X that is unrestricted, then the owner would have to go to court to prove otherwise. If not it will be euthanized. ******ing Morons.

To all my fellow "Pitbull" parents,

I am deeply sorry to find out that the Pitbull Ban is left standing.

We know that our breed, has been so wrongly characterized, misunderstood and judged, over the actions of a very few, which in most cases resulted from poor ownership.

Let's pray that this ridiculous legislation, doesn't spread throughout the entire country.

My heart goes out to all you Ontario Pitbull owners, please never give up the fight in trying to educate the truth of Pitbulls!

I've also read that he's considering taking it to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Interesting, given that not all of the provinces have the idiotic BSL and at least one nation had cancelled theirs, the appeal might find more favour there.
As a second thought, what provinces do or do not have a BSL?

Province wide? None others, but there is BSL scattered all over Canada.

Ardent ACO's

This is nothing to do with BSL directly, but indirectly is:

Same edition of the Toronto Star also had another article about a woman in Toronto that thought she was being stalked - Took her three dogs to a park, unleashed two of the dogs, realized she was being followed, re-leashed dogs and started walking swiftly, person following picked up speed and started taking photos.......Who was this mystery stalker?.........Animal Control Officer

Chris, I got that story a little differently. I understood it to be that the lady was there with her unleashed dogs running around.
The guy was taking pics and then started following her to her car.
Must have been a rookie, sure take the pics, identify yourself and write the ticket for the nice lady

That's what I read in the T. Star, but of course it hardly ever gets anything right. If you go to the THS website it is on their front page the story kinda differs a bit but I would say still amounts to an overzealous AC. Also they don't always wear their uniform, they are "Undercover". They do the same thing around here, we have a few conservation areas and they are placed at the entrances to see who lets their dogs off leash, then wammo they hit them with a ticket.

That is so sad. When will everyone see it's not the breeds it's how they have been raised. I am so afraid Rottis are next. The negative media does not help. If people would just pull their head out of their maybe things could change. A while ago I read something about Bully dogs that have been seized and retrained for police work. If they are so bad how can this be done? I'll try and find it again it is very interesting.

i really wish someone would teach these idiots to atleast be able to identify the breed, if it even remotely looks like a bully they harass you. My nephew has an alpha blue blood bulldog and he has to carry her papers on him all the time. How can you judge a breed vicious or agressive if you don't even know what the friggen dog looks like.
