Rules for Fostering rescue dogs
I fostered a pregnant dog with a local shelter and she had a litter of 9 pups in my care. I didn't sign a contract and I had many out-of-pocket expenses. This shelter had problems finding homes since there was only one person running it. When I tried to find a home for a pup, the shelter pulled my dog (and the puppy) from me and I have no idea where or how they are. The mom was back up for adoption immediately and when I asked for her back, she "disappeared". Is this usual? How do I find out how the dog is if there's no one else running it? Does anyone know who monitors shelters or can anyone run one? How or where do you report them? This mom lost her home, her pups and was spayed all in one day. I'm worried about her.

Have you inquired about them? Good foster homes are hard to find so I wouldn't think they would want to tick off any person who is willing to take a momma and her pups in. It is a lot of work as you know.
I foster cats from a local humane society and they do have the right to take away any foster pets as they wish. Any possible homes that I find for my fosters have to go through the shelter for adoption. I pay for all my fosters food, toys and litter, they pay for medical bills. I was very upfront with them that I get very attached to the cats (they are treated no different than if they were mine) and would like a say as to where they are sent to be adopted (my contol issues ) and they have always honoured that request.
