Have you ever

Have you guys ever been denied access to a forum, because you won't provide your full name? I won't mention the forum, however I was very interested in particapting in this forum. I provided them a detailed description of my professional background, (Didn't use names of employment). I don't know maybe it is just me, but I don't use my full name over the internet, unless government sites obviously.

I was actually shocked when they have denied access to the forum. Sad too, cause I was really excited about the forum.

I was shortly part of another forum , left them pretty quickly because I didn't like how it was run. Then one day they had to close it. When they opened it again , they ask all the members to register again , they asked for personal infos which I refused to give , like I said , I didn't like the way it was run and certainly didn't want them to have my personal phone number and other infos.

I think I was a member of that same forum Frenchy mentioned. I won't give my personal info either and so I never re-registered.

I think I joined the same one temporarily but never really participated. I noticed some very familiar set ups now.

like NoahGrey I won't give out my full name in any forum and I've never been a member of any that asked for it.

what does spelling pitbull have to do with Noahs field?
Noah, was it a govt site? thats the only ones I've ever had to give my full name/details to, but then again, those are my work sites.

domestics are part of my field as well I started out in the animal welfare field with domestics first. No it was not a Government site. It was a forum for wildlife and a GREAT networking site. One of the main reasons why I wanted to join. Within time, depending on who I want to network with on that site, I would then provide my full name to them. But to a average forum, where anyone can join. I didn't feel comfortable.

Governments sites are the only sites that I would give personal info too.

well you know what then NoahGrey, you're better off not in that site and to my way of thinking its their loss, you could have contributed quite a bit to them being you're studying it right now. They probably sell addy's and phone numbers to call centers.

Thanks Melinda, I am enjoying my program, however I do mis AC. I will have to get back into, even if it is only a part-time or even volunteer basis.

From what I have come across, amazingly there are not alot active wildlife forums, like this one. Alotmore of hunting/fishing, those of that nature, then wildlife conservation/rehabilitation forums..expecially in Canada.

Membership and viewers' rates always increase when there is a bit of controversy. It's when a forum gets a little boring that viewers' rates go down.
Wonder how long it will be before someone "visits" us now.
