8 week old puppy with umbilical hernia

We are anxiously awaiting our newest addition to our family. He is an 8 week old Bernese Mountain Dog. The breeder took the pups in on Monday for their 8 week check before they get to go home. Apparently our boy, Max, has a small umbilical hernia that the breeder said should be fixed when he gets neutered. Should I be concerned about this hernia? Is there anything specific I should watch out for?

I know you all love pictures, so without further adieu... here is Max!

No worries with the umbilical hernia. It's a little incision, stitch and it will be all fixed up.

Where is your pup coming from?

Lovely pics btw!

Thanks! We're super excited to get him finally. It's been a long wait!

He is coming from breeder out of Stettler, AB.

for the compliments!

We've been to the breeders for so many visits and have watched them grow from tiny little things to now. He'll go through so many changes in the next year, I'll have to be sure to take lots of pictures to show him from one week to the next.

Apparently all his brothers and sisters have gone home with their new owners already except for one so I'm hoping our first night with him will be a little easier on us.

He is already booked in for puppy kindergarden and will go to beginner obedience soon after that is done... we are also hoping to get him into agility but that all depends on his personality and if he likes it or not. We will try though.

1 more day 'til he comes home!!!

Absolutely adorable. Hubby said it looked like a stuffed toy but I said it would grow into a very regal dog.

I'd love to see Max pull carts as one of his many talents as he grows.
