Sydney Had Surgery

WARNING - If you have a weak stomach, do not scroll down!!

For those of you who find these sorts of things interesting, I thought I would post some pics. Sydney had a tumour in her lip which we discovered in the Fall. We did a needle biopsy to determine that it was not cancerous so we decided to leave it in hopes that it would go away on it's own. Long story short, it started getting bigger so we had to get it removed (it tripled in size in 2 days). So, here are some pics of Sydney before and after the surgery as well as a few pics of what they actually took out.

What we were removing:

I couldn't believe how much of her face they had to shave. She just had this done on Monday so is still having to wear the cone on her head but she is doing great and completely back to her perky self.

Thanks guys, Sydney has definitely been getting some extra hugs lately, Spencer too of course, can't leave him out. Poor guy had no idea what was going on, when we brought her home, he kept bringing toys to her trying to get her to play with him. Now the hard part is trying not to let her over-do it.

Oh, and I am glad I didn't totally freak anyone out with the pics, I sort of think that they are funny but I have a strange sense of humour.

Aww poor Sydney. I would think she feels better with that thing off her pretty face. So it looks to me like the stuff that was taken out was pretty much fatty tissue?

Wow!! That was quite a fatty lump! First time I've ever seen what they look like out of the dog.

Glad she's on the mend! for a quick recovery!

The pics of what was removed aren't so bad but I think I'll postpone breakfast for a little while nevertheless .

Glad Sydney is on the mend. that she and Spencer will be playing like normal really soon .

Thanks guys, she is doing pretty good. She is over the half way point as I am planning to bring her in on Thursday morning to have the stitches out (she can go as early as Wednesday but I am in a conference all day and can't get out of it so she will have to tough it out for one more day). Amazingly she doesn't seems to mind the cone all that much. When she was spayed, the sight of a cone would make her start frothing. She is learning to take corners a little wider to avoid running into things and has figured out how to jump up on the bed with the cone on. I think she just might miss it when we finally take ot off of her. NOT!!!
