Deworming

Hi everyone,
I haven't found alot of topics on the net about this..
So I'm just wondering how often you guys deworm your pets? (dogs, cats..ect)
-we deworm often.. and always new animals that come here.. just wondering what everyone else does

do you deworm more often, (please explain how often)
during summer(or winter) months?
Multi pet house hold
Spend most of the time outside
because of raw/prey model

...ect

In your opinion can you over deworm? (if so, how often is too much?)

What type of dewormers do you use?

We live in an area with lots of wildlife and our guys get things like whipworms, hookworms, lung worms, tape worms, etc. After years of going through the expense of testing them all and having to treat them all, we just put them on a three-times-a-year deworming schedule. We buy Panacur by the tub and treat in June (to take care of the worms picked up since snowmelt), again in September (to take care of the infestations of summer) and then again after we have solid snow cover and below-freezing temps (so in December or January). This year, because Macie ended up with lungworms, we're using ivermectin for her, which is much cheaper and better at clearing out lungworms, but not so good with some of the other things that Panacur is good at killing off.

If we didn't have so much evidence that the dogs were picking up worms in the backyard, I'd think three times a year was pushing it. But holy catz this area is a worm haven And ticks........don't get me started about the ticks!

We use Advantage Multi and/or Revolution (mainly for flea and heartworm prevention) every month to month and a half during the warmer seasons here. We've used Panacur on average twice a year in the past two years.

Feeding raw/prey model (human grade meat) doesn't cause intestinal parasites .

Yeah i've never heard of feeding raw/prey model (human grade) giving parasites! but hey never know some people may say differ.
