Eagle Pack Holistic cat food
Ok, I know this has been addressed before in some form or another, likely about the formulation change, but yesterday I bought a bag of kibble and the size of the bag was dramatically different - by that I mean smaller.
The price was also $2.00 higher, not a great big difference, but when you consider the difference in bag size, I think that it is going to add up quickly. Global tried to tell me that they put the price down to accomodate the smaller bag, but I buy the stuff every 3 weeks and am aware of the price, it went from $47.99 - and I can't remember the exact amount in the bag, but alot more than there is now, to $49.99 for 12 pounds. They changed the packaging, but as soon as the owner picked it up I saw the difference in bag size. Can anyone remember the amount in the large bag before the packaging change? I think it was 15 pounds but I'm not sure. I empty the bag into a bin for storage, so the bag was long ago discarded. The old gold coloured bag. Before anyone jumps on me, I use the kibble to supplement the canned diet they are fed twice daily.

This probably isn't Global's fault or doing - the fingers have to pointed at the manufacturer here. And Eagle/WellPet isn't the only company that has done this - that is down sized their bags while keeping pricing the same or even increasing the wholesale pricing. Check out Canadian Naturals and California Natural - both did the same also in the last 6 months or so.
To expect Global to drop their retail pricing for the smaller bags while seeing no change on their wholesale pricing is unfair. And if Global incurred a price increase at the wholesale level, then why wouldn't you expect them to increase their retail pricing? |
