Monday evening updates (7th of December 2009)

Last night was really chilly but at least it was dry. Lots of walkers, some new ones as well. All the dogs were able to have really good walks.

The first dog that I took out was my old buddy, Buddy. He is such a big baby for an older dog. Likes to be around people and is just a big suck. We had a nice leisurely walk, no issues at all. At one point during my walk, I had to get out a klennex to blow my nose. Buddy saw me pulling something out of my pocket, so sat real nice and gave me that look "Oh boy treats". Biggest friendliest look on his face. But when he realised it was not treats, he gave me the cold shoulder right away!

As soon as we got back to the shelter, he got to go right back out with another volunteer.

When he finally got back to the shelter, he got to hang out at reception on his nice comfy bed. He even had a barbie doll.

Next I tried to walk a new resident, but she was really nervous (first day at the shelter). So in the end, I just sat with her for a bit. In the end, I was actually lying down right beside her on the blanket on the kennel floor. Eventually I gain enough of her confidence that she let me leash her up and take her out.

We went for a nice long walk. Nothing note worthy happened, but it was nice to watch her tail go from tucked between her legs to wagging at half mast. No profile on this girl yet.

I also got lots of cuddles from Mama Bear, Isabelle and Farrah.

Mama Bear and Izzy both got belly rubs as well.

Updates

Friday

Isabelle - Got transferred to the Sunshine Coast shelter, so she will have lots of room to run around.

Since I was coordinating, no dog walking for me. But did meet some new and interesting residents. Plus I got plenty of loving from the usual suspects, Farrah gave me lots of kisses. Mama Bear wanted her belly rubs and Buddy just acted like a big baby.

New and interesting characters are Luke and Champ.

Luke - Very talkative fellow

Champ - Got to watch out for that tail of his

Sunday 13th of December

I walked a couple of dogs that are staff or coordinators only today. Both were very well behaved on their respective walks. Even had some snow. Farrah still wants to climb into my lap whenever she sees me. Got lots of kisses from her today as well.

Plenty of walkers, even with the weather the way it is which is great.

OMD ....I can't believe Luke's previous owner.

Champ sounds like a big loveable boy.

Hope Isabelle has better luck at the Sunshine Coast shelter and also more good luck for Farrah,Buddy and Mama Bear to all find forever homes.

Monday evening (14th of December)

There was some more snow, but all the doggies got to go out. Plus there was three coordinators there tonight, Monday, Sunday and me!

I walked one of the coordinator only dogs first. Same as yesterday, no issues. Well mannered and listened to the basic commands.

Then there was only Luke left. He had such a pathetic look on his face, "How come I haven't gone out yet!". Luke is a strong boy, but listens well. He waited very patiently every time we went across a street. Mostly he just likes to do that hound dog thing where he has to sniff absolutely anything and everything.

He likes a good scratch as well.

Luke

Where'd he go?

I know that it's been awhile, probably July back, but I was fostering Boo Boo for a little while. We had him for about 2 months at first. And when he seemed pretty healthy from his condition, we took him back to get neutered and adopted.

Crazy great dog if you all ever had the chance to meet him. Real shy of doorways, bikes and men, but so incredibly great with other dogs, and animals.

I know he was taken back after his first adoption because I ended up fostering him again for 2 weeks, but then I heard that an adoption went through and he's been, I'm sure, happy in his new home. Does anyone know where he went? Hoping to see him at the park sometime
