We're waiting on some more test results and then yes, we will be contacting one (by your way) sometime this week. Penny had her broken canine and an incisor removed today. While she was out, multiple x-rays were also taken and everything is perfectly fine as far as the vet could tell. Her eyes/vision were checked as was her gait and posture...that's all fine as well. So far, there's nothing physiologically wrong with her that may have given us some answers to the cause of the attack . Right now, our focus is on rebuilding her confidence.

Dh and Sandman returned home form NB this evening. Ava is doing extremely well and has taken a real liking to Uncle Red . She's often right by him and takes every opportunity to keep his favorite chair warm should he have to get up. She's getting on really well with her new big brother, Schooner, and pays no mind to her three new kitty siblings too (I was promised pics of the felines in the near future).

Here she is checking out her new yard...

They'll be heading out this way in late August for a few days so it won't be long before we can see her again.

LP... I'm a bit confused...I thought Ava couldn't get along with other dogs and that why Penny and her fought.

Ava looks like she has found a lovely home with a huge yard.

LP - Ava looks very content. The best part of this story is that you know she will be loved and well taken care of. I always say that things happen for a reason.

You did great LP! Hugs to you.

Thank you everyone. Every time I start to feel down, I look at her photos and it lifts my spirits some .

TQ, Ava is good with other dogs, just doesn't bother much with them unless they're teeny tiny puppies or mature, calm males. It's Penny she never really got on with. But she's sure taken a liking to Schooner . Penny's the one who doesn't read/trust other dogs/people well. She did do great with the veterinary staff yesterday though! Even though she was extremely anxious when we arrived, her focus on me was near perfect.

I put her crate in our room last night (she was awfully dopey from the surgery) and she's doing good this morning.

lp...thanks for explaining that to me...I sometimes get confused.

What surgery did Penny have? Something else I can't remember.

I'm glad to read there is a good ending to the story tho, and I hope you are ok.

Penny's sore for sure so we're keeping her quiet. Lots of massages, rides in the truck (her favorite passtime), and lots of soft treats (her other favorite passtime ). This afternoon she zoomied around the yard for a minute and went straight for one of her toys....ouch . She's still avoiding Lucky and Nukka, will detour even though Nukka is in her crate when she comes inside . she settles a bit once her mouth has healed.

Ava is still doing great...even laid next to one of the kitties on the bed this evening . I spoke with her new family (that monthly 1000 minute long-distance plan is coming in real handy ), and they said she's an absolute well-behaved and affectionate darling .

So glad that Ava is settling in so well!! Even makin' friends with the kitties! Good girl, Ava!

Penny is very lucky that she has parents who understand how much dogs (especially labbies) love trucks!! I do hope she relaxes a bit around Lucky and Nukka once her mouth heals up!

Thanks Dog Dancer, I had forgotten about Penny's broken teeth.

LP I hope Penny will feel better after her mouth feels better.

LP.I know you had a heavy heart placing Ava,but you must feel relieved she is in such a great home,it looks just wonderful.

I hope there is a solution for Pennys issues, whatever they are,was she always like this,or is it a sudden happening??
I know Penny could not be in a better home, you care for her and love her,I just there is a simple explanation to her behavior and something that can be cured.

I visited with Ava tonight <------ those are my happy tears . She and her family are down for the weekend and staying at a campground 10 minutes away. I swung by after work and spent an hour cuddling her to pieces . She's looking wonderfully well, is in great shape, and is super happy. It was too dark to take pics but I'll try to get to see her again before they leave to return to NB .
