Hello Arrrrooooouuuuuu :)

Hi all!

My name is Elizabeth. I am a new mom to this lovely rescue basset, Lily.

We feel very blessed to be able to give Lily a forever home. She's been such a good girl!

I am a previous Mom to a beagle and a beagle/basset mix. I am here to pick up some tips and tricks with regards to Lily. Much to my surprise, she isn't much like my previous two dogs

My first question is - what do you basset owners use when walking your babies - a harness, a regular collar, a choke collar ???? She is so strong that I am afraid that Lily will either pull me over or I will break her neck trying to hold her back LOL

DipityCrafts,no,it's nothing you saidyour basset is really sweet and thank you for rescuing
I don't know much about collars and such, but I am sure someone will come along soon, just be patient

If he was my dog,I would probably get a harness, they seem to be getting more popular.

Welcome and sorry no one addressed you prior.

Did you get your rescue basset in Montreal? If you need any help with this basset all you need to do is contact the rescue and they may have someone to assist you.

Did you try a harness on your basset? They fair much better on harness than collar.

Yes, she came from a Montreal rescue.

She came with a collar and so that is what we have been using so far. I was hoping there might be other basset owners here to see what works best for them but, that's a good idea re: contacting the rescue. I believe one of the ladies owns a basset or two.

Oh and thanks for the welcome Max (I mod another board and so I know how easy it can be to overlook the noobs from time to time.)

Oh my, you may be very sorry you asked. I believe Lily is world's most photographed basset! We just shot another 30 pics or so today but I still have to upload them.

Here is a link to her flickr album - http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3285/...70f2bc2c5d.jpg

Sorry we missed you, but I promise we'll make up for it in bugging you for more and more pics of Lily. She's lovely to say the least. Good luck with your colar issues, sorry I can't help, I don't have a basset. I use a Halti on my lab, but don't know how a basset would do with it. Thanks for rescuing

Rats. My connection/modem apparently has the same issues with flickr as it does with photobucket...I can't open the pics.

But I love your avatar pic! Is that Lily?
