Timber

It is with great sadness that I share with you all that our youngest dog Timber passed away today at the age of 14. She held a very special place in our hearts and will always be remembered. Timber was a Siberian husky that we adopted from the Winnipeg Humane Society in 2001. I would like to come back and share more things about her life but for now I just wanted to express my gratitude for this forum and for all who helped us make her life healthier and happier. I appreciate all you have done for us!

I very sorry for your loss. RIP Timber, come back to visit your Mum often in memories she will cherish, knowing the pain and tears they bring are testament to the great love you enjoyed. And in time the memories will bring a smile or two, then more.

I'm so sorry, SuperWanda. Timber was such a lucky girl--so well-loved. She couldn't have ended up with a better family, that's for certain! My heart aches for you.

I was so sad to hear that it was Timber's time. You made a great team, and the pain you feel now is a testament to how much you loved each other.

Run free Timber, and breathe easy...

I want to add, Timber is what brought me to this forum, and you are such a great dog owner, the way you fight for them and find whatever will work. Please look back with no regrets and no guilt. It's so easy to do that when you have a pet with chronic or serious issues... You were great.

Timber

Timber was adopted from our local humane society in February 2001. She was about 4 months at the time and was in need of some TLC. She was malnurished and sick with a cold and despite a few baths, she continued to smell like garbage which I imagine was her only means of survival. We adopted her as a companion for older sister Shiloh. I remember the day we brought her home, so quiet and scared but as soon as she met Shiloh, she instantly came out of her shell and was filled with happiness. I don't think Shiloh was too sure at first but they became such good companions. We were told that having 2 female dogs might cause conflict but they were great together and it was Timber's calm nature that helped Shiloh through her anxious years.

Timber enjoyed countless walks and play times with Shiloh. She loved nothing more than to pull toys out of her toy box (which she had an extensive collection of) and especially loved our winter weather. I cannot imagine Timber without snow. Winter was her favorite season and she tried to spend as much time sitting in the snow, eating the snow and playing in the snow as she could. It provided her with such happiness, serenity and comfort that I imagine is embedded in most huskies DNA.

What does a husky do when the weather is hot? Enjoy the beach of course!

Some of the things we loved about her was her numerous vocalizations. She would always try to communicate with us in ways that always made us smile. She had such a calm, care free personality and being around her made us feel like we had no worries. She helped us see the beauty in nature, especially in winter, much of which we might have missed. I'm still not sure how I will survive the cold months without her.

Although our time together seemed way too short, we will never forget our Timber and the love and laughter she brought to our lives!

Superwanda, so sorry for your loss, I think we all know how heart breaking it is to lose our beloved furbabies. Timber was such a beautiful dog in body and soul. What a lovely tribute you have posted for her. The clouds are her snow now and she's having a blast! Bless you for all you did for her and your other babies.
