New here - cat losing weight

Hello all
I am new here and I have got a beautiful pussycat called Teddy who was a stray about 4 and a half years ago, he was thin when i got him but now he is so thin I am really worried and will take him to the vet next week. I have wormed him with the spot on the back stuff.
He only weighs 7 lb now and is so bony. He is the most beautiful cat i have ever known. He seems to eat several times a day but not that much really and is it hard to get him to drink he likes to drink from a tap only but does go for a cup of milk if I have one but when I give him some in his bowl he drinks very little.
I am thinking maybe just feed him on chicken instead of cat food. I also never knew eggs were ok for cats before so might try them he does like mashed potatoe and bread but I read they are bad for cats.

puddyhouston, you should start your own thread in the cat-health forum, this thread is an old one.
I don't think feeding him chicken only would make him gain weight,a vet-visit is needed.
Sounds to me like he could have a thyroid-problem,,,but I am no vet.

Thx, chico. Post moved to its own thread.

Welcome to the board puddyhuston. I hope the vet visit goes well.
