ISO dry cat kibble...

I know that wet/canned is best. As per my Medi-cal post below, I am slowly converting to Wellness canned and Wellness dry kitten kibble for Licorice.

Mulligan has been on Nutrience Elite since he was about a year (since 2003). He is loving the Wellness canned, and LoViNg the Wellness kitten kibble, but I want to offer kibble as well. (I swear, he has gained 30lbs since the kitten came into our home)

I went into Ryan's to get a good look at all of the options. The man there was a really strong believer in FROMM brand cat food. He said that it's very popular and it's a great food. They also had GO! Natural brand that he said was good too. As was the NOW! He said that the Innova was one that was all over the internet but wasn't necessarily the best dry food.

I asked his opinion on Wellness, and he said it was a decent choice too, but his first choice would be the Fromm, as far as dry kibble is concerned.

So what would you feed this cat? Mulligan is a long haired almost 7-yr old cat who has done well (or done well enough on) Nutrience Elite and has no vomiting or hairball issues so far.

He is loving the Wellness canned food as well as the dry kitten kibble! LOL

Pls help me choose a decent food for him.

Tks in advance.

(I'm anticipating lots of recommendations to stick with Wellness canned or perhaps the RAW diet...*sigh*)

If he has gained weight, it may very well be due to free-feeding on the kitten kibble. Is there any particular reason you think your kitties need to eat dry food?

Snugasabug,wow,what a gorgeous cat
I feed my 3 cats Wellness canned and they used to love it,they still do,in the morning and eat quiet a lot.
However at night they don't,it's difficult to figure cats out sometimes
I will have to look for something equally good for them for night-time feeding.

Fromm's canned food is made in China. My picky Puddles loves it, but she only gets it as an occasional treat as I don't trust any food manufactured there. If the ingredients are up to US standards, then it is a good food.

Another great food is Nature's Variety Instinct (canned of course). I buy mine at Ryan/Global Pet food. It is potato/grain free and 95% human grade meat.

L4H,I think I am going to pop in to Global/Ryans ,is the Natures Variety more expensive?
Hubby has just gotten used to $2.99+tax for Wellness large cans

Maybe use Wellness CORE dry instead? Or Orijen? Both are okay for adults and kittens alike.
Where I am, Orijen is nearly half the price of Wellness and Innova... 17.99 compared to 29.99.
Whatever you go with, I think the most important issue is to choose a grain free food with good ingredients and protein above 35% as DMV, and feed as little of the dry as possible.
One thing I don't like about Fromm is all the grains, not really good for cats at all.

What a handsome boy!! I'm feeding EVO dry now with no problems but its high protein so perhaps not appropriate in your case? Sorry I couldn't be more help-- I really just wanted to 'ooh' and 'aah' over your gorgeous kitty!
