Advice needed--TPLO surgery for bulldog

My dog needs a TPLO surgery according to surgeon. She has a torn cruciate. Read so much about it and dont know what to do. I have an english bulldog who will be 6yrs old in February. Please help. Everything I read suggests not to do surgery. The surgery will cost $3233
Need advise

Have you thought about getting a second opinion, Marley2011? A lot of it will depend on how lame she is from the injury--sometimes a tear is only partial, but a full tear will probably need a surgical fix. Only a vet would be able to tell you for sure.

(More people are likely to see a new thread than a post in an old thread, so I moved your post into its own thread. )

I work in a veterinary clinic where we carry out TPLO surgery on a regular basis and very successfully. Once you observe the post surgery instructions regarding crate rest, the recommended re-introduction to walking/light exercise and physiotherapy/hydrotherapy your dog will be back to normal.
The other alternative is to have him custom fitted for a brace, but he will need to wear it for life in most cases.
Why, may I ask, are you against the surgery? I realise it is expensive and that is an issue for many owners understandably, but do you have other fears about it?
