RC Urinary S/O vs. Medi-Cal Preventive (canned cat food)

Are these essentially the same thing? Our Stewie is on Medi-Cal dissolution dry right now and then will be on either of the two above. I believe the medi-cal is more expensive (vet food). Any experience on either one?

We have 3 kittens (2 male, 1 female) and they will all be on the preventative canned just for precautionary measures...will this harm the other 2 since they didnt have a UTI before?

Thanks!

medi-cal dissolution = Royal Canin S/O.

These are foods to dissolve struvite crystals, you would then go onto the preventitive. However some people find they have to flip back and forth as crystals often do reoccur.
Feeding preventative to all cats in fine.
This is an option in a vet only food, in terms of a preventative diet many of the commercial holsitic foods create an acidic urine (the crystals prefer not to grow in that) and that are also low magnesium (a component of the crystal)
I would get some PH test strips so that you are aware of the PH your cat is producing. It should be below 7, ideally 6.4
Keep in mind, NO food guarantees to prevent crystals, as there are many factors, ie fluid intake, genetics, activity level.

I just started them all on canned for the morning and evening with dry during the day. I have canned and dry Medi-Cal Preventative and I have Medi-cal canned Kitten development formula for the youngest. So far so good. they LOVE the wet food! I'm just not sure how much canned I should be giving them since they are all still kittens...
