dog names
Were torn about our new dog's name, were thinking of either Oliver or Moe... Weve heard opposing views regarding the amount of syllables in a dogs name e.g. 1 is best but 2 at the most etc.. does it really matter?
p.s. were open to votes on either as well! |

Just dont' name him anything you will be embarassed to yell in front of the neighours.
I remember the story of a doctor who had a cat he called "Sweet Thing". When he lost the cat and had to go out and call it, all the women in the neighbourhood thought he was coming on to them! Short names are usually easier for teaching commands, as you can say them faster and one syllable words are usually better for getting a dog's attention. But it really doesn't matter! Can you show us a pic of him? |

How about TAXI....j/k
It is going to sound weird, but I have always wanted a dog (shih tzu) and wanted to name him Samson. |

I heard that "s" sounds and long "e" sounds are good for dog names. Most of my family goes by this rule, and some of the pets we've owned were named: Casey (my poodle right now), Lucy, Percy, Pepsi, Sammie, and Sadie. Not sure if it's true or not!!

I don't know if it matters how long the name is. It should be one word probably. If you look up on the internet you can find lots of interesting dog names. If you show us pictures of him then we'll be able to suggest a suitable name for him.

my dog has 2 syls in her name and she knows who she is, i dont think it matters, and she can recognise and respond to about 20 names of friend and family and they are all different with varying syls some up to 3 and such.dogs are very clever, far more clever than many of us think

My previous dog had over 300 squeeky toys and knew them all by name. He even knew the difference between the old toy and the new identical one. You have to give a whole lot more credit to dogs than most people do.
