Allergy Update

Just a little update on Scruffy and his new-found allergies. The vet had determined he was allergic to chicken after seeing him for horribly itchy ears and runny stool.
I took him off chicken and he did seem better. THen the itching came back.
Now I have him totally off all grain, including snax and he's a new dog! Happy, healthy, no itchies, no scratching his ear until he cries.

Many thanks to the poster who referred me to the wheaten yahoo group - that's a terrific resource.

Good for Scruffy! I'm glad you figured out what was getting to him.

Glad to hear that Scruffy is doing so well.

And, I agree with diandpat, we would love to see pics of Scruffy.

In fact, I don't think you have ever posted any.

rainbow, no I have not posted pix of SCruffy..grr. I don't have a digital cam. I will be borrowing one shortly for other reasons, and I guarantee you will be sick of looking at my gorgeous guy soon heh heh.

As for food,I have him on Orijen 6-fish. Twice a week I give him raw instead, with some (BLAHHHH) green tripe. Raw beefy bones reguarly.
His snacks have been the biggest challenge, with toothpaste a close second. They stick that silly chicken in everything.
For snacks I just give him dried fish, kangaroo strips or raw fruits/veggies.
So far so good.

rainbow nifty! he loves salmon! So you just smoosh the whole mixture onto a cookie sheet? or make individual cookies?

I just spread it out on a cookie sheet and then score it into small rectangular pieces. I'm sure you could form them into individual cookies though if you wanted different shapes.
