Unhappy I think Oksana's UTI is back :(

I noticed this evening before dinner, she went into the litter box in the kitchen and not much came out. And just now I was cleaning the litter box upstairs and I noticed a little bit of a stream in the litter of very little pee. As I was cleaning the litter she got in and again peed a little.

I'm going to watch her this evening, but I already called in an appointment for tomorrow at 10:00 am. Ideally I'd want her to see her usual vet, but she works nights and she's not on until next week, and I'm not waiting until then to take her in.

Thankfully, the vet on call tomorrow is very nice. I can have her look at Oksana. I'd already made an appointment for her and Vlad and Czari for their vaccines next week, so I'll keep those open and I can use that appointment for a follow up as well.

I hope she's okay. I've been giving her some of the marshmallow root in her food every morning. I don't know what other preventative thing I can give her to help.

I feel so bad for her. I was looking to see if I had any of the pain medication left from when Vlad's nail came out, and I don't. She was fine yesterday, and I've only noticed her going to the litter more than usual tonight. She's eating well, so I'm taking that as a positive sign.

I don't know why this keeps occurring.

Thanks for asking. She's better. I made another post, with something I found that I'm hoping will keep this from happening again.

http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=67612

She's much better. But, I've only finished giving her anti-biotics. I'm really hoping this stuff I found will help her. It's supposed to be used not only when they have a UTI/cystitis, but you can also use it as an ongoing preventative.

She's only 2 years old. I don't want this to be something that's going to give her issues later on in her life and possibly become worse.

Talked to the vet this morning

When i took Oksana in on the 24th we did a culture on her. The results came back normal, no bacteria.

So, as it stands now, it seems her problem is possible stressed induced and the vet said she's likely suffering from Ideopathic Cystitis.

She suggested some Royal Canine uti canned food, but I told her I'm feeding her EVO Venison with some added water. I also told her about the Tract Ease I'm giving her as well.

I'm hoping this, along with giving Vlad some flower essences like peacemaker or bullysomethingorother, things will calm down with her.

I can't keep her separated indefinetely while I'm at work. It's not fair to her. She loves looking out the window and can't do that in my bathroom.

For now, I'm giving these natural products a try and hopefully, they will work in calming both of them down.

AG I have found with my 2 having the same diagnosis its sporadic behaviour and not all the time? In my opinion now that you have ruled out the bacteria and medical side I would let her be free to try to work it out. I think that if she learns to deal with it the better she will be..As you said she cant enjoy the things she likes when confined to the other room!

Glad to here its not an infection! but it is hard to deal with I know!

AG have you tried the pheremones yet? I have used them and seen them work in different ways but I just reordered mine because I was thinking about it after Bomber pee'd in my shoe that this type of behaviour has increased since I stopped refilling the diffuser?? so back to that to see now if it makes a difference.

They should be cheaper for you to since I have to pay to ship them over here!

Yes, I'm going to allow her freedom. I haven't tried the diffusers, but I think I may. I know Chico gets them at a good price from a woman on ebay. I'm going to keep at it with the natural remedies, and I'm going to put Vlad on something as well. I don't like to have to give him something but he really is just terrorizing everyone!

Hopefully between all of these things, maybe we can get a grip on this.

Yes I get mine from the same place..Except there is an issue with the diffusers here in Canada so we have to order from the US. I found a huge difference when I first got them and honestly I think what happened was Bomber got an infection and I just assumed they were not working. I thinkits worth trying!

I have two of the diffusers, so I won't have to buy them. I'd have to put both of them downstairs, because the ceilings are so high, I would maybe need 3.

You know I only have one diffuser and I use it on the main floor of the house. I know they suggest more but it seemed to have worked for me.

I also find that certain times of the year mine are more active and drive each other crazy and other times they get along great. Do you have a cat tree? A high spot on which Oksana can get too? maybe thats all she needs is an escape spot of sme sort?

I'll try with just the two first then.

Yes, I have a cat tree. She also loves hanging out on top of the cabinets. Vlad rarely gets up on the cabinets, so that's a good place for her.

The vet also mentiioned the time of year. She's never had an issue before and in the last 2 months, she's had 2 episodes.
