Talking Joining from the island

Hello all! I found this forum the other day when searching for pet food info and was greatly impressed by the "vibe"! I am from Vancouver Island, just moved from Victoria up further to Sooke and loving every minute of it! The reason we moved is because we just added a new puppy to our clan!! His name is Burbear, he is a SharpeiX who was found wandering at 5 weeks old. They were eventually contacted by his "breeder", he came off the reserve, his mum is a full Sharpei but dad is an unknown. By his markings & large head, we're guessing Pitbull My dream would be a Staffy!!

We also share our home with Tiger Prawn & Caviar, two sisters who were found floating in a bath tub after their owner tried to drown them. Tiger Prawn has a bump on her skull & lost her front canines to the accident and has an "oral fixation"!! We call her gummer, because everything we own has teeth marks now...Caviar came out unscathed and is the quirkiest little cat...they love each other soooo much!!

Hopey is one of a kind...she came to me 4 years ago with the threat of euth hanging over her head...returned 3 times for unprovoked aggression, I failed fostering 101 and ended up working with her. I now know her patterns inside and out and she has calmed right down with me. She has cage rage, restraint rage, petting aggression and redirected aggresion (PHEW). But she is our queen and we love her for who she is...

In the past year we also lost a number of our clan, we were fostering a palliative care Sharpei who had a severe heart condition and quietly died on the eve of 2006 leading into 2007. I lost a 3-legged orange tabby kitten, Marceau Tripode, to under developed or damaged kidneys in October. He was my heart pet and every day that passes I still feel the pain from his loss  We only had him for 2 weeks but it was the most fulfilling weeks of my life...

About a month later we added another kitten, Cabbit a Manx, to our clan who I lost in December to FIP.

Okay, I'll try to wrap my novel up

I greatly look forward to becoming a part of this community, and I hope I can provide help, assistance & support!!

What a wonderful person you are to take in these beautiful animals; somehow, they were guided to your warm, loving home to spend their lives, though some for a short period of time. We've experienced the heartbreak of losing a pet; we lost Kelly, our dog, at 18 years of age; and our cat, Mindy, at 16 years of age. They both came from the SPCA. We will eventually adopt again. Welcome to the forum.

Failing the fostering 101, just ask Hazelrunpack and others here, amend how easy it is to fail that program. I love your family they look so very happy, the pic with you? and the kitty curled up having a nap is so peaceful.

Welcome to the forum. pbp

Thanks so much for the warm welcome!!
When we met Burbear at the foster home, he was 5 - 6 weeks old, and I turned to my boyfriend and said, "I truly believe this little pup was sent for us to take care of." I feel that way about a lot of the animals I've taken home. When I met them, I just have this different feeling inside of me and I think, "Yup, this is the one."

I had different dreams about what my life would be, lots of traveling, living city to city, going where ever work took me, but now that I have my furkids, it's a different life and I've chosen another path.
