Pit Bull Issue In Edmonton

There was a recent pit bull attack in Edmonton and the dog the pit bull attacked was killed. The pit bull got loose from its yard apparently.
I am posting this to say that I was very impressed with our Mayor not buying into the pit bulls are evil dogs hype. He said basically that yes it was unfortunate, but he doesn`t blame the breed, he questions the owner. He also stated that he knows many people with pit bulls and that they are very good pets.
I was just posting this to show that thankfully not every city official deems these dogs dangerous or anything. I was happy to hear him defend the dog.

That is really awesome to hear - a really positive change from the typical reaction.

I didn't hear about the attack, must watch the news today.

I love pit bulls and the few pittys I know are the sweetest dogs ever.

That's awesome! Way to go Steven Mandel, for realizing that its usually the owner that makes a mean dog, not the breed.

This is unfortunate. I know the dog and am friends with the owner. The dog used to be my brothers, until he had to move and his friend(long time Pit bull owner) took her. He asked his friend to watch the pit bull for the week, and asked if he knew how to take care of it, and his friend said yea etc... And he just put the dog in the back yard all week, and didn't walk it or anything. Really Irresponsible on his part, and if he had done things right, this might not have happened. Its sad because this particular pit bull was a champion show dog.

Lettin the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin it back in.

Most of the stuff people worry about ain't gonna happen anyway.

If this is the same attack I heard on the news it's been reported in the Edmonton Sun that the dog in question was not a Pitbull whatsoever but a english bulldog, lab, boxer cross.

Has there been another attack because the only one I heard of in Edmonton lately is when the collie type dog was killed
