Im so angry with myself!!
Im soo frustrated right now. Ive been bawling my eyes out for the last half hour. And I mean bawling. I cant stop crying. Im hear lying in bed with my laptop looking through yorkie rescues, listening to "In the arms of an angel" By sara mc whats her name and its killing me! ..I need to vent here I keep looking at these poor dogs with no homes. Some Taken in from horrible homes, beaten, abused, neglected. I dont know why i torture myself like this! I just dont know! I feel so guilty because i want to help, but i cant. I want to help sooo bad. I cant do anything to help really, Because im, not allowed. I was born into the wrong family. I c ant foster any of these little guys, I cant volunteer at a shelter, I cant do anything. Im so angry at myself and my parents. I feel guilty for not adopting and buying. I come here and read about how much everybody is helping animals. And Benmax, ACO22, 14+, Badger, L4H And everybody that i have missed, I commend you for EVERYTHING that you guys do and reading everything you guys do makes me feel very very guilty, Because I want to do it. I want to help.
Whoa, i think im starting to sound crazy or something, All my emotions are starting to take over and im sorry for venting on all of you, but i have to. Im probably didnt even make ANy sense. I seriously think im having some sort of breakdown. I saw a yorkie girl that looks just like keely, and her story has me torn up, its just so sad what people are capable of. The little girl was thrown at a wall multiple times, and she is 6 months old Its finally happened, Ive lost my sanity. Really sorry guys

Whoa take a deep breathe babymomma, all of the folks that you have mentioned from this board are somewhat older than yourself. Your time will come. My daughter started volunteering at the spca when she was 15, why don't you try and sit down with mum and dad and explain to them how important it is to you to help. No rants or loud voices, a proper conversation that is logical.
If it doesn't turn out the way you want it to this time, try again another day, but don't harbour hostilities towards your parents, or thinking you were born into the wrong family. You were allowed to have Keely whom you cherish. I am 60+ and I wish I could do much more but my Hubby really is not in favour of it, so I do what I can. For now you give support to people on this board and it is appreciated, be placated with that.........I know it is difficult for you, your time will come |

Babymooma we have all been there! Im sooo sorry your feeling this at such a tender age..What I can tell you is that you help ALL the time..Think of your way of helping in just a different way! Do you realise how important you are here for example? You offer help whenever you can by giving advise, talking to someone who doesnt even know you? offering them kind words.
It is I am sure frustrating that you cant get out there right now and dig in with both hands but let me tell you honey you have the whole world ahead of you to make a differnce and I am absolutely sure YOU WILL.... Now just take it easy and dont let it get you down. Maybe you could go to a humane society and make a small donation to help an animal? that would be helping? or go buy a bag of food and take it to the local shelter? Even speaking to people and educating them helps...so see you do these things all the time.... Any time you want to vent we are here for you.... Cindy

It's a shame your not even allowed to Volunteer, What's up with that? When I was a teenager I was so self absorbed and selfish that I'm sure my parents would have paid money (if they had it) to see me doing something good for someone else (yar, I was a brat but I have changed for the good now)
It won't be long though, just in a few years you'll be adopting mini keelys and fostering so much you will be the newfoundland/labrador (sp?) version of Frenchy! Hang in there, your not crazy

BM,I am 60+yrs old.I don't do much,although I would love too,however I donate a small amount every month,bring blankets,toys,often times food to Humane Society,every little bit helps.
It is very natural for an animal-lover to break down and cry, seeing abuse and neglect, the Sarah McLaclan song, together with pcs, is very touching makes me cry every time. So no,you are not crazy, just a good soul

You have such a wonderful heart and the day will come that you will be in a position to make your own decisions. In the meantime, don't loose your spirit, cause it is wonderful and do well in school and keep up the great support you offer. For us who foster, it can be very stressful at times and to have members on this board such as yourself and Chico here to support us makes all the difference in the world.

There are things you can do from your computer. If you use MySpace you could always befriend rescue groups on there and help them repost their information. Lots of people do that. It does help. You could always help schedule transports and things like that.
Are there no shelters near you? No offense but you kinda do live in the middle of nowhere in Newfoundland. So I don't find it unreasonable that there is not much you can do to help. I looked on your Craiglist section before and it was empty I was like, did everyone get eaten by polar bears or something? Cheer up kiddo. Just find ways to help online.

Babymomma , you shouldn't be sad while looking at the pets into rescues. You have to be happy for them , they got a second chance on life And when you'll be older , you will be able to do whatever you want , foster , volunteer at a shelter , heck you can even start your own rescue ! Patience , your day will come |

Oh babymomma, you make my heart swell with pride because I know you. You are an amazing 15 year old girl!
Remember when you pm'd me and wanted to send me blankets and stuff for my bunch? Remember what I asked you to do instead? Chico mentioned it. Believe me, something like that is much needed, much appreciated. You can get your parents involved, set up a few little shelters in areas you know strays hang around, you can donate your time. Oh wait, you do. You walk the dogs in your area who otherwise would be left on their own, tied up. You teach your dog how to be well behaved. You spread the word (I know you do) at your school about animal welfare. As a couple of others have mentioned; your advise given on here is well thought out and very useful for a lot of people. Most of all; stop listening to that song! It gets me every time!! And please, please, please, don't be in such a hurry to grow up! It comes soon enough. to you. Keep on being you!!

The fact that you are still young and understand the importance of animals means soooooo much. You can only do as much as you can, just know that by spreading the word about doggies (and kitties) that need help, is much more than a lot of adults do....I know some nights I also check out the sites for abandoned, abused, neglected or lonely furbabies and the tears won't stop.

hey i can relate to how you feel. Growing up I did have a dog but when she passed away my parents never really allowed me to get another one and my parents thought that rescue dogs had problems so when we did have pets none of them were rescues. Im 24 now and live with my boy friend and 6 pets (5 of which are rescues) 3 dogs and 3 cats. my mom now realizes that its the effort and love you put in that makes a good dog not where you get them from.
When i was younger I use to tell my friends and anyone who would listen about the need for tougher animal cruelty legislation and the proper way to treat animals. As mentioned before use Myspace, Facebook and other online forums to spread the message one of the best things you can do for animals is prevent more from ending up in the shelter and by educating people you are doing just that. you may not think the things you say now will have an influence but they will maybe something you say to your friends now will open their eyes to rescues and encourage them to adopt when they come to an age when they are looking into getting pets. all the passion and love you put in to animals helps alot. if you have a part time job try making minimal donations even a couple of dollars every couple of weeks adds up. Most non charitable organizations make most of their money by all of the small donations that add up not the large lump sums donated by one person. Its great that you want to help and I am sure you will find more and more ways to have a positive impact on animals even if its not your ideal Here is another way to help click on this site daily and it goes toward providing food for animals in shelters. http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/c...u_leftnav_logo another thing you can do is try to purchase cruelty free products many household chemicals and cosmetics are tested on defenseless creatures such as dogs, cats, pigs, rabbits, and monkeys try to buy from places that refuse to test their products on animals or buy supplies from those who do. The Body Shop and Lush Stores are great places to buy your daily hygiene and cosmetics products are are cruelty free

aaaw don't be so hard on yourself young lady, i'm sure i'm not the only one who has logged on after a hard day and something you've said has cheered me up. Like the others said don't be in such a rush to grow up. You being so young and thinking the way you do gives us old folks some hope that maybe, just maybe things will change and people like frenchy and 14_ ACO22 and the rest can all take a well deserved break. Do what you can for now and the rest will come.

Thanks everybody, I really needed those words of encouragment. I havent felt like this since my mom told me I could have a dog. Before that i was depressed for a long time and had days like this very often.
Chris and Mommakat- Im not allowed to volunteer because the closest shelter is 1 hour away, And with my dad working in alberta for 3 weeks out if the month and my mom working full time it is hard to be able to find time for her to drive me. But i still feel that even with more time she wouldnt allow it. I guess she just doesnt understand because she isnt a big time animal lover. I asked if i could pay to go on the bus once a week or take a cab but she said she didnt feel comfortable with me doing that. I still think there are ways i could make it work. People i know are always going and coming from the areas of the animal shelters and i would gladly pay half the gas. mommaKat- I hope i can do HALF of what frenchy does! She doesnt know it but she is indeed one of my heros Winston- Thank you so much I really really appreciate what you've said. And i do wish i could do more hands on work to help, but i guess i'll just have to work with what ive got. Again, Thanks. Chico- you are one of a kind! I too donate old blankets and stuff, but i still feel that i COULD and Should be doing more. It Really Really warms my heart when you post about walking your neighbors dog, because we have alot in common! L4H- Thank you so much I really love what you do for your fosters! Keep up the good work, and everytime you get a new foster give him/her a BIG kiss from me! Kathryn! I cannot beleive i left out your name in my original post! You, you are living my dream, your only 17 and have saved so many! Thanks for the advice, I dont use myspace, but im going to sign up for it tonight and see what i can do! Thanks Alot! And keep up the good work! I have to ask, How did you convince your mom to help you with everything you do? Or is she just a natural animal lover as well?

babymomma, as many have said here, you are still young and have lots of time to give of yourself. You are already one step ahead of many people your age in that you are so passionate about helping animals.
I don't even watch that Humane Society commercial with the SM song. I can't take it. It tears me up and the eyes of those poor animals are burned in my brain. There will come a day when you are a little older, able to drive or are off on your own. When that time comes you can start making your wish come true. I wish I could do more as well, we all do.

It is easy to get upset and let your mind race when you start to think about all the animals out there that need our help. BUT you can also think about all the things you do every day to make the animal world a better place.
Just as everyone else here has said, you are still young! I remember being your age and always just wanting to grow up so fast. In doing so, I actually missed out on some things. For now, do what you can do, and remember: If you can dream it, you can live it. I am sure you will make a big difference in your lifetime!

She naturally cares for animals to begin with. More or less, she is bad at saying 'no' to me Especially for helping animals. You can not save them all as you know. You can try, but when you fail you can't let it get to you. With the reposting on MySpace it's very depressing and yes, a week or two after I repost and try and find help for these animals I do generally find out the outcome. Alot of the times they are rescued, but sadly there are times when they aren't. But I'm not lying when I saw animals have literally been saved by MYSPACE! It sounds like a joke but it really does happen and fairly often. Going to one of my friends on MySpace's photo albums, they save all the pictures of the animals they repost. The album of 'Saved' animals has 896 animals in it!!!! That's just threw MYSPACE!!! But, the album next to it for the Rest in Peace has 820 photos  Just helping to spread the word and collect donations really helps. My favourite group on MySpace is Winging Cat Rescue. I recently did a transport for them to adopt out 3 of their kitties rescued from death row. Now they seriously just survive off people on MySpace donating to them. They will save probably close to 1,000 animals this year threw the help of myspace donations and repostings. If you decide to help out with this, just feel free to add my cats myspace which is in my signature. Some stuff will be depressing and some stuff will make you cry, but if doing something as simple as forwarding their story and a picture of them could save their life, it's worth a try.

BM, is there some way u could volunteer at a vet's office? That way u could be around animals more. The vet might be very happy for an extra pay of hands. Just a thought.

Is there a low cost vet in your area? Better do some checking for that first. You could also do a bake sale/garage sale/book sale/etc. to raise money for s/n and/or food for the cats and to make people aware of the colony. See, there is lots of things you can do. Awareness is a great tool in educating people.
