Transfer Factor for my FIV cat--for humans or felines?
Hi,
My cat is FIV positive. I was referred to this site for a supplement that might help him: http://www.4tf.com/4life-transfer-fa...lus-tri-factor But after speaking with their rep, they suggested something for cats specifically: http://www.4tf.com/4life-transfer-fa...eline-complete I seem to recall from scanning posts here, that someone said to use the human version. So I am unsure what to get or how much to give to my cat. If anyone has experience with this product on their FIV cats, I'd appreciate knowing how effective it was and which type to purchase. Thanks. |

One issue with the feline version is all the extra "flavourings" in it, like yeast, wheat, poultry liver, cheese..... which may (or may not) be a problem for some cats (for instance, if there's an allergy to chicken or dairy or yeast, etc). Also, while the flavour is supposed to be appealing to cats, since every cat is different there may be cats that don't like the taste. Which is why the rather tasteless human version might be a better choice if you have a fussy cat.
Having said that, the advantage to the feline version over the Plus one is that it contains 400mg of the Transfer Factor molecule, as opposed to only 150mg. The plain TriFactor version (without the "Plus") contains 300mg of TF, but doesn't have any of the other "goodies" included. The feline version also has extra vitamins added. If it was me, I might be inclined to start with the human version initially (especially since Jarvis has the itchy chin issue of unknown origin), then try the feline one when that bottle was done and compare how he does on them.
