@@ FOUND @@ Lost Boston Terrier

Hi!

I am in Newmarket On.

I just took my Rocky out and his leash disconnected from his collar. He just took off like a shot. Unfortunately, his tags came off with the leash. He is about 10 yrs. old, acts like a puppy and is very friendly.

If found please call Animal Control at 1-800-898-8606. We reported to them. They know Rocky, this has happened before.

We really love him and would be devastated not to get him back.

Can you post the actual photo here please. Just go to 'manage attachments' and upload it.

Oh geeze I'm really sorry to hear that. I had the same problem with my dog and I use a harness now. I strongly encourage you to get a harness so it doesn't happen again when you get Rocky back. IF it's happened before and you were lucky enough to get him back the first time I hope you are this time too for his sake. Harness's aren't that expensive and they work well. If you don't want to get a harness get a martingale collar which your dog cannot slip ot of.

Your dog is really adorable. Do you have flyers up in the local area. I'd print big flyers with picture saying LOST DOG with pull tabs at the bottom listing your phone numbers. Put them up on corners, bus stops, grocery stores, in front of the schools and vets offices as well as PET STORES.

Really really hope you find your dog, keep going out where he was lost and keep calling him all the time.

I agree with getting a harness for Rocky and also putting up flyers. Did you also contact the SPCA? Good luck and I hope you get Rocky home safely.

Thanks

Thanks for all the good advice. I was planning to get a harness. The problem today was that the hook on the leash must have opened up somehow. We had a temporary cloth collar on him and just hooked the leash (which had his tags on it) to it.

I tried to add the picture as an attachment but the posting rules at the bottom say "I may not post attachments".

I will try to circulate something tomorrow. I have no money to print fliers and my printer can't print pictures but I will put together some pages with a description. He also has a tattoo on his tummy "PV36J".

I have called the local animal control. They know Rocky. They have been really helpful in the past. Has has slipped away a few times.

Thanks again for your moral support!

Thank God you got him back each time.
You must be paying quite the fines out of pocket. How much does it cost each time for you?

Talking

We got Rocky back!!

My wife and a friend were scouring the streets near our local Tim Horton's and found 2 girls walking him. They said they found him yesterday.

We have been lucky. After the first time, which was $20, the animal control office gave our phone number to whoever found him and they called us directly. I have been blessed this way, we are on a fixed income and could not afford a huge payout each time this happened.

Thanks sheryl6411 for posting the picture.

Thanks again to everybody for your moral support!!

Please protect him and make sure it doesnt happen again.

His breed is very popular and people will snatch him up. If he's not neutered get him done ASAP please please.

I am so happy to hear that Rocky is safely back home and glad you will be getting him a harness.

The link for the second photo says you have to log into facebook and I don't have an account there.

He has a tattoo on his belly. He is registered with the local animal control.

From now on he WILL have his tags on his collar AND a harness for his leash.

He is like my son. I feel so fortunate to get him back when this happens.

Running is his history.

We got him about 5 years ago. Our son found him running in the road after some food. We called the Animal Control right away. He had 2 year old tags on.

We canvased the area, looked for lost dog signs, and I let him take me for a walk for a few hours hoping he would lead me to his home, all with no luck. We felt so bad for his owners.

One of my neighbors later told me that he had seen rocky roaming the area for about 2 weeks.

One of the times he ran off on us, the people who found him were able to find out from his immunization tag that he got his shots in Quebec.

Animal control told us if nobody claimed him we could keep him.

We have given him a loving home since.

The summer after we got him, our son tied him up in the back yard while we were out, then went off with his friends. He was gone about 4 hours. Our upstairs neighbors heard him crying out back. It was the hottest day of the summer and he had also wrapped himself up in his leash and could not even get to his water. They called Animal Control who had to resuscitate him when they arrived. They said they had never seen a pet fight so hard to survive. He ended up in the hospital for a week and then extensive recuperation at home. He later developed eye problems and then had to have surgery. He also has arthritis in has hind legs which we keep under control with glucosamine & devils claw.

So you see, he has been through a lot and we would be devestated to see anything happen to him.

Yes he has been through a lot. What a horrible experience. I was horrified just reading of what he'd been through.

What kind of harness have you gotten? You know about 4yrs ago I bought one at Zellers for 20bux and still use it to this day, works just fine. THere is even padding for under the front legs. You may want to consider one like that because the hard leather ones sometimes chaffe the armpit area.

I haven't got the harness yet. Waiting for money to come in. I will likely go to Zellers. The one with the padding sounds good.
