FDA names 16 dog-food brands with potential link to canine heart disease

Vast majority of product labels indicated foods were 'grain free' or contained peas and lentils...

I hate posting stuff like this....but it's important.

Just some additional info: In the original FDA release, they mention that these 16 brands are the ones with the most market-share, so are the ones that show up most often in dogs with the problem. This doesn't mean that other grain-free formulas that include legumes or potato are safe, just that there weren't enough affected dogs eating the other brands to make the list. There appears to be a link, but the number of cases of disease are still low overall. So there is reason for concern, but no reason for panic.

If people do decide to switch food, since all grain-free formulas utilizing legumes may be part of the problem, it might be a good idea to look for a grain-free formula without legumes (peas, lentils...) or find a high-quality, grain-inclusive food.

Wow very shocked. Fed Winston Orijen ans Sophie gets Acana as its a bit less rich for her. We found the change from vet food tho this product remarkable.
With Winston he had sores on his belly and we tried everything environmental to fix it. Turned out a food change fixed his issues. It was Orijen..

Need to read some more and re educate myself...
