Unhappy Puppy has yellow snot

Hi I got a puppy from the pound about 5 days ago, this after noon he developed a green runny snotty nose and is just laying around. He refuses to eat or drink, a friend suggested kennel cough. I have never heard of it. Im looking for suggestions the vet said if its kennel cough it has to run through him, but do they gag with kennel cough? He hasn't vomited but is like gagging any suggestions?

Yellow/green mucous indicates an infection. This may or may not be kennel cough. But it's serious and your puppy needs to see a vet asap.

Please come back to let us know how he's doing .

Definitely need to have puppy seen by a vet. Left untreated, even kennel cough can lead to pneumonia.

Good luck with your puppy! Please keep us posted!
