hey, yeah I have posted an ad up on kijiji. I also just spoke to Golden Rescue in Markham, they're very nice people. She said that since its been over 48 hours Anbu is most likely in someone's home. Without a collar or any kind of identification they might be waiting to see a poster or trying to contact me.

Harry, I found a list of shelters and Rescue organizations in Ontario. Please look for ones in your area (in case you missed some) for more help.

Thanks Chris, I called them but they don't have Anbu, so I reported him lost. I Do hope he turns up, just have to wait I guess. And I am very glad Paw Animal Services no longer handles animal control in the Markham area, They are horrible.

Unfortunately, no.. Haven't heard anything and I've stopped making daily calls to animal services. Every time I call they seem to know who I am without the need for an introduction since I call so often. She said that they have my information and will give me a call ASAP if/when they hear something. I still check their websites regularly though. My GF is making a photo album of Anbu just so that we never forget how silly and goofy he was.

I came across something on yahoo answers about the purpose of a dog's life. I'm sure that many of you have read this but for those of you who have lost a pet this might make you feel a little better, it did for me..

A Dog's Purpose (from a 6-year-old)
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.
As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.
The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why."
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.
He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life - - like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?" The Six-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long . "
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!

Ok, so I got an email from someone stating that they had seen a dog similar to mine in a shelter in Scarborough (about a 20 minute drive from my house). I posted pics of both Anbu and the dog found at the shelter.. what do you guys think?. The first pic is a pic of Anbu and the second pic is the dog at the shelter. I think the resemblance is striking.. Anbu had a weird rash on the bottom of his lip, the dog at the shelter seems to have the same rash in the same spot.. I am going to call tomorrow to get more information about this dog but for now .. any opinions?

I'm working on it right now.. I'm not too sure how to enlarge the pic without exceeding the file size requirements for this forum.

Thanks Shirley.. I hope its him also. We'll find out tomorrow I guess. How long do shelters wait before making a dog available for adoption. This dog has been at the shelter since October 31st.

All shelters are different. But I would go asap if I was you. They look like the same dog. I so hope this is Anbu !

I called this morning about the dog at the shelter, the receptionist told me that the dog isn't neutered, so it can't be Anbu because he is. It's just weird how similar they look. Unfortunately I cant get to the shelter in person because I'm at school in Waterloo (about 1.5 hours away). Maybe ill try to get my sister or mom to check him out.

Harry sometimes if a dog is a bit testy they put off checking, also with Anbu having long hair it can be hard to see. Although this dog has been there for some days now, really the best thing is if your sister could go personally rather than rely on a telephone call. Good Luck again

As an afterthought, it could just be a typo on his paperwork

Anbu does get feisty when we try to groom him. Ill have my mom go in person to see him when she's done work today. The shelter is a bit far from where I live. The only rational explanation that I can think of is that someone took him and decided that they didn't want him anymore. I'll keep you guys posted
