I would venture to guess that it is not normal.

Though, my dog would vomit bile (just mucus and yellow liquid) everyday when he was a puppy. I took him to the vet - he had acid reflux and possibly the beginnings of an ulcer in his stomach. He went on some medication for a couple months, started on a better food, and has been great since.

What does the vomit look like? Is it food coming up? Yellow liquid? Blood?

Not normal at all to vomit everyday. Lots of reasons from tummy troubles to allergies to stress. But I would definitely get a vet to check hiim over, as it can lead to electrolyte imbalances, and more serious complications.

I agree. Not normal. This should be worked up with a veterinarian. There are many causes and most can be properly managed. It is also important to be able to distinguish regurgitation from vomiting as the possible causes are very different. Vomiting will be an active process meaning that you will see the abdominal contractions (heaving) prior to them vomiting. Regurgitation is a passive process meaning that your pet will lower his or her head and the food or liquid will just pour out. Other information to be able to provide your vet in order to help him or her out in their work up is: timing (am? pm? 1 hour after feeding? no pattern at all? etc.), what it consists of (water only? food? bile (yellow fluid)?, mucous? blood? varies?) and if there is anything that triggers it off. Additionally be able to provide what you feed and if that has changed, provide any medications or herbal supplements that you give. etc.

I hope that this helps. Please let us know what happens!

Hi,

My dog vomited some yellowish liquid (bile). I feed my dog 6am and 6pm; half cup per meal. Between the two meal, my parents might feed her some fruit/treat ( apple, banana, etc.)

my dog usually vomits in morning. I suspect it is due to empty stomach.

I have started feeding her little amount of knibble around 9pm since last night. She didn't vomit this morning. I will continue feeding her some knibble for few more days and see if this method will reduce vomit.

thanks
Alice

I am glad your dog did not vomit this morning. However I still strongly advise a check up by your veterinarian. Would you not rather be safe than extremely sorry??

That sounds extremely similar to what was going on with my dog. I would advise going to the vet; they can confirm whether it's something serious. If it is acid reflux, your dogs tummy could still be irritated, even without the vomiting. Best to get her checked!

As Dr. Lee says "No". It could be so many things; from something as simple as overfeeding to a serious disease. Take you pup to the vet ASAP and please let us know how it turns out.
Hoping for the best

Dogs that are used to a fairly consistent time for breakfast will vomit bile if you go too long after that time before feeding them, that is true. Their digestion gears up for the food just like the dog gears up for when the owner comes home from work at the same time every day. Keep a close eye on her and have the vet check her over at your first opportunity to ensure that is all this was.
