Some kind of Iris
Okay, one more thread, then I'm done. Sorry, I just love perennials, so it's fun talking about them!
This is the ONLY plant that was at my house when I bought it, just a single plant by its lonesome on the back corner of the house. It's some kind of Iris, but no idea what kind. It was raining yesterday when I noticed it had bloomed. It doesn't bloom very long, so I took some quick pics of it even though it was raining. But they actually turned out kind of cool with the rain drops! Anyone know what kind this is by chance?

I googled Siberian Iris and WOW there are tons of different varieties! I haven't found one exactly like this, but they are so similar, I think you're right Jessi! Thanks!!!!
Found this link with several of the varieties, but none of these look quite right. http://www.tranquil-lake.com/catalog/siberian.htm But it says there are only a few of the varieties out there. Wow, I had no idea!

I'll have to try taking pictures during the rain more often! Well, more sprinkles than showers, lol. I didn't think they'd turn out very well, but wanted to grab them quick while they were in bloom, so took them anyway. They last such a short amount of time! But I was surprised how well they rain drops actually turned out! I had the camera setting on macro. I'm going to try that with other flowers once they bloom and if I can get another good rain day. I'm not very good at taking pictures and I just have very basic Canon, but it's fun to try!

I think it's a Blue Flag iris-I have some in my garden, too. There's a yellow version, with dark red markings that's really pretty, too.
They don't last very long at all. This is a blue flag-now I'm not so sure:

looks alot like this to me...
Iris sanguinea This is a 28 chromosome siberian. Unlike some "siberian" iris, its range actually includes Siberia. It also grows in Japan, Korea, and China. |

Could it be a type of Bearded Iris? I can't tell from the photos if they have 'beards', though. Maybe... check the petals on the bottom, where they fold over, is that bright yellow part fuzzy? This link has a better explanation http://www.ag.ndsu.edu/pubs/plantsci/landscap/h113w.htm

Oh, I have no idea, but I'll look at them and check! I noticed today they were already starting to wilt a bit and they just bloomed on Friday! They really do last for such a short time...only a few days! Cool, thanks guys!!!!

Okay, got better pictures today and the yellow part is fuzzy! So Kristen, you were right! They are some kind of bearded Iris! Cool! Excuse my fingers and lens cap in the one pic, LOL, I was trying to show the yellow inside of the flower.
