Zak's cat cancer diet part 2

First off - I can't tell you how appreciative I am over the great and abundant information that I have received in the 2 threads
http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=37733
http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=37735
I posted last week.
Thanks so much to the best BB members on the planet.

So now I guess I'd like your best advice again,

I purchased the high protein Evo canned and dry...and Zak is NOT so into it.

Before that he was eating eagle brand holistic. That he liked.

Should I try Nature's Variety first? or go back to what I know he likes?

What should I do? Should I try to mix the 2 brands? Should I grind up the Evo dry and mix it with Eagle holistic? Is that bad?

And last question - what about cooked meats? Is cooking liver or lean minced meat a good idea?

Thanks again everyone!

Sincerely,

Marko

Marko, I'm so sorry you're going thru this. When I introduce new food to my cats I always mix it in with the old stuff first until its all new stuff. Cats can be finiky and when introduced to anything new they will or can refuse it.

As for meat, I've been a vegetarian most of my life so I am not much help in telling you what meat has the most protein, but my guess is if its cooked most of the good stuff is cooked away, is it not? Something like veggies?

Evo has alot of protein and I would try and reintroduce it by lacing it with tuna juice or his old stuff. Good Luck

I would gradually mix the EVO in with his old food. If he just picks out the Eagle Pack and refuses the EVO then try the Nature's Variety but gradually introduce it as well. Good luck ....some cats can be pretty finicky.

You can lightly cook some liver and cut it up into tiny pieces if he likes it. Or cooked chicken or fish cut in small pieces as well. I've never had a cat that liked lean hamburger though but you could try it. You could also give him canned tuna if you rinse it really, really well first.

Hugs to Zak.

I agree. Eagle pack isn't the best, but if he eats it, you can maybe try using it as a base, but boost the protein with the other higher protein ones. My dog food store sells a ton of Nature's Variety and they say dogs seem to love it, so it might be tastier than evo.

Choosing foods is difficult.
