Oh...my...!!!! They are just way too cute.

I'd have a hard time trying to be the alpha with those cute little faces that would always make me smile and laugh.

Hazel's right. You're in trouble.

They were probably begging for food, they normally are. Lupa was weighed at the emerg. vet last night and is 10.3 kg. She was 6.4 when we brought her home Feb. 4.

Yes it's hard to stay mad at faces like that, but somehow it is doable!

Breeze, 10.3 kg is 22.6 lbs. She's a big puppy! Not sure what Nikki is up to now, as he was 10 kg when we got him. (Each kg is 2.2 lbs)

Lupa we believe pulled a bulb from the garden yesterday and was chewing on it. She was rubbing her face after I took it away and then an hour later she started to vomit. All night she was throwing up, by later in the evening it was just bile, but I was worried about her dehydrating so decided not to wait until today and took her to emerg. They put her on an IV drip and did xrays to check for an obstruction, and bloodwork etc. and kept her overnight (that was hard for me). They were concerned over parvo, but we really don't think it's that - they get their 2nd shots this week. This morning they fed her and she kept that down, so they sent her home with some meds for her tummy and some Medical gastro food. that it was just an upset tummy from the bulb. that the 6 week trial for Petsecure insurance covers most of the huge bill!

I may look into insurance for the first year after all.

*sigh* It's always something with puppies in the house, DD! Glad she seems to be on the mend now!

I really have no idea Growler what type of bulb it was. Maybe a calla lily. Anyhow, she was very playful this morning with Nikki, so that was a good sign. When I left for work she had not vomited again yet, but it often takes a good hour or two before it comes back, so I may not know. They are outside on the deck while DH tries to wake up, and while I am eternally thankful that neither pup seems interested in eating poop , Lupa has tried to lick the vomit so, if it's just a small amount and they're out on the deck I may never know. But what she did bring up last night was very tiny, so that was good. I'm very positive today!

Lupa was so funny this morning. She got up in my lap and snuggle right in for a nap, but when Nikki came to check it out she was very growly at him for trying to horn in on her snuggle spot. She can be a real grump at times this sweet princess.

Well today seems to be a good day for Lupa. No tummy upset yet, so I gave her a bit more food and 1/2 a carrot. DH is very upset with how thin she looks right now (she does look tiny), but I told him if we just give her tons of food she'll get sick again, it has to be increased slowly. He's mad at me.

Just a couple pics. One of Lupa's shaved front leg (from the IV) and one of Nikki telling me he's the sweetest boy! Sorry big big pics. Just to say, Nikki's right ear (his right) used to be quite tilted, but just like the breeder said it did stand up nice and straight. DH was worried.

Maybe she is just a bit thin because she is growing?

Guero eats like there is no tomorrow, and if we don't keep a close eye on him he will take Bestia's food as well, since Bestia takes forever to eat, and he still looks skinny to me, but he does eat well, so N just says he is skinny because he is growing.

Nikki is a very sweet boy

really you think she is skinny??

you weight her and she has gain weight since you got her.. you don't want a fat puppy, that will contribute to all kinds of other problems..

she doesn't look skinny to me DD

You are right she doesn't look thin in that picture. If you look at her from over top though her belly is totally sucked in. I think it was just from being sick though. She looks a bit better today.

I hear you about the weight though Breeze. The breeder warned us also, but DH likes his puppies and his women chubby (lucky for me!). It's always a struggle with him about how much to feed the dogs. They each get just under 1 cup of Orijen large breed puppy twice a day, plus a few treats and carrots in between. When I was giving them a bit more they have very soft stools. Reducing it a bit helped tremendously. Weird how that works....

OMG they are too cute for words. I am so happy for you and your dh. I can smell them already, love that puppy smell. Will be anxiously awaiting stories of their adventures or should I say misadventures. And lots of pics

Yes she's a daddy's girl all right. If Nikki comes near while she's on his lap he gets growled at! But she sure does look to be pleased with herself. You'll see a few posts back he had both of them on his lap, not so much anymore....

Somehow I think the only thing he is teaching them is to beg at the table, climb on the furniture, and cry to get picked up. I'm sure I've missed some other things there too! The puppies are puppies, DH is the Anti-Teacher.

LOL. It's a man thing, DD. Ian has a habit of sweet talking dogs at inappropriate times, like when you want them to be still to have teeth or claws done. He also hadn't heard of the saying 'Let sleeping dogs lie'. Anti-Teacher, I like that!
