How to Humanely Kill A Snake?

Poor little thing, at first I thought it was a twig but it moved so I went closer. Squashed across it's middle by a car. While I was wondering if I should stomp on the head and end the misery two cars came along and I had to leave the middle of the road, They both swung out a bit to clear me and the dog and the second one accomplished what I'd been dithering about.

For next time, anybody know if stomping would be the thing to do? I know if I did the body would still twitch but surely the brain would be dead? All movement then would be insensate reaction?

Don't ask how I knew he/she was a goner, it was obvious. Haven't searched to see what kind yet.

I have no idea LongBlades, but luckily for this poor creature, the task was eventually done.

All I can say is thanks for caring. It is so difficult to see suffering regardless of what species.

Yes, destroying the brain cavity quickly [stomping the head flat, lol] is about as humane a method as you could do. Cutting off the head leaves the brain 'feeling' for hrs. Freezing, which is often touted as humane, is so only if the creature is anesthetized first, the formation of ice crystals in live tissue is painful.
