CF vs SD?

Hubby surprised me last night with my birthday/Valentine's Day present (mind you, it'll count for my birthday present for the next 10 years or so ). He bought me an Olympus Evolt E-500 digital SLR. This camera accepts both Compact Flash and Secure Digital media. Does anyone know the difference between the two, other than size? Is one better for digital photography than the other? Does getting a high-speed card really make that much of a difference?

Also, does anyone know of any good tutorial sites that'll help me get to know this camera better? Black's (where he bought it) includes a 1-hour intro course with the purchase of the camera, but something tells me that won't be nearly enough to allow me to use this camera to its fullest potential.

OK, so the guy at Black's either speaks with a heavy accent or doesn't know as much as he should about the product he's selling. Turns out the camera takes Compact Flash & xD, not SD. Since I'm so afraid of losing those tiny xD cards, I guess we'll stick with CF.

Lettin the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin it back in.

Most of the stuff people worry about ain't gonna happen anyway.
