I decided I wanted to do something special for our first Halloween, so I made Vlad and Oksana some costumes. Of course he's Count Dracula, and she's Mina.

As you can see, this is Oksana telling me just what she thinks of her costume, as she runs away form me:


I had to resort to waiting until she was asleep. A groggy cat is a cooperative cat.



Here she's giving me "the look."


I think she's finally just decided to get it over with here.


Vlad was a little bit more cooperative, but I still had to bribe him with some treats.


Here's a good look at the collar.


And here is a good look at the whole cape. I had to take it off of him after this one. He started baking up, and I know that's his sign for "get this thing off of me."


And finally, since he was also napping I got this last one, which came out pretty good.


I'm going to give it one last try at getting some better pictures, but I won't traumatize them further if I can't get a good shot them.

They may forgive you if no other kitties have seen them in these costumes and ridiculed them.. Hopefully there weren't any birds on your balcony looking in. You know how quckly they call all their friends over, and that would be the ultimate embarrasment to them.

Did they threaten you with a call to the SPCA to turn you in for abuse?

LOL, oh I know they would have been mortified had they been seen. If they knew I was posting these, they wouldn't meow at me for days!

I think next year though, Oksana's costume will have to be shorter. I've probably got better luck with her and something short.

Hey, maybe I'll experiment with a Christmas outfit!

Oh my poor kitties. They're probably plotting ways for my sewing machine to meet with an unfortunate accident.

And that would be a bad thing, why? If they do this and you need a meowing fix, I could lend you my Jasper who likes to get a kibble treat at 4AM and meows for it , or my foster momma who is in heat (I think) (she is getting spayed on Wed, yay, insert happy dance).

I think you're very lucky that you haven't been attacked in your sleep yet! I remember when I bought my boy the cutest little t-shirt from American Apparel. He only wore it once, but I got whacked in the face at exactly 5am everyday for a week. They're passive aggressive creatures, I tell you.

Hey, don't think I didn't keep an eye on Vlad when he woke me up at his usual 5am. Luckily he just wanted to cuddle.

Actually, he's got very little hair on his temple, like Oksana, so it looks like its gray. So if you look at him a certain way, he's a natural for the costume.

That's so cute! I love it!. I was going to question how you kept the hat on, but then noticed the elastic thing. The scarf is very cute.

Ya that was a dog costume from the dollar store... I figured if they went nuts and destroyed it, it was only a dollar. This was the only good shot I got because as soon as I got it on them they proceeded to try to shake it off. They all got lots of treats after of course... picture or no.

This year I wanted to try a reindeer costume on Buddy... he's big enough for those cute petsmart ones.

I've seen those. I was going to get a little witch one for Oksana, but they were still to big for her, even the smallest one they had was too big.

Thanks! I need to fix hers. I'm going to shorten it and take it in around the neck, because its too big. I'm hoping that after those alterations she "might" allow me a picture or two.

omg, I absolutely loved these pictures! Vlad looked great in his costume!!! I'm trying for santa hats next month for Jazz and DeJe', we'll see how that goes! LOL. I'm waiting for Jazz to get better before I start to torchur him with costumes again! LOL!!!

And he was so cooperative too, a real trooper. I was very excited because they featured him as the Halloween cat on about.com's cat page. A very proud mommy moment for me.

I'm going to try my hand at some Christmas capes, but I'm thinking something really short, just maybe draping their little shoulders. Hopefully they will ALL be cooperative and I can get some holiday cards made from those.

LOL, I know I can't do too much, but I think some nice short holiday capes might work. I'll never be able to put a sweater on them or anything like that, but I may as well experiment with small stuff.

Vlad was almost a devil too, but I decided to try and make him a cape. I wanted to make Oksana an angel, but I looked and looked and couldn't find any little angel wings.
