sunscreen
do you use it on your dogs, more specifically their noses? and the shorthaird breeds?
my mum had a shar pei, who unfortunatly passed away last month, however thats not the point heh her dog had a very short coat, she used to put sunscreen on the dog worrying about its skin in the summer. she was very careful not to ahve it near her eyes and not in her creases. she uses a baby sunscreen, hypoallergenic. good idea or bad?? im beginning to think of what we will do for sammy in the summer sicne the kids spend 99% of their time outdoors when it warms up, and I dont want to cause him discomfort do you use it on your dogs? and besides carrying water around what else do you do for them to help them survive the heat in summertime? I was literally just about to post the same question!!
Odin has thin skin under his belly, and a white coat, and pink areas on his face. As a blond, I know how easily I can get burnt, so I started to worry about him the other day when I got some colour after a walk. I'm actually most worried about his face...

It would be a good idea... I don't do it because my black doggies can't stay in the sun for very long anyway...

My Eskimo is an Erno Laszlo boy as was his mini Dachshund brother who is waiting for me on the Bridge. Our Dachshund was a dappled short hair with a big pinky brown nose and a "naked" stomach and our Eskimo has a very pink tummy and while his nose his black it is very sensitive to sunburn. I didn't intend to use Laszlo on them - but as it is the only brand I can use and not break out in a serious rash (very pale, auburn - well okay, originally - and allergic to everything) and my pups have always waited in anticipation for Mommy to put her cream on - and then "puckered up". Since neither pup burned - nor became sick after "taste testing" my products, I decided to just go with the flow. I put mine on and then start applying the excess to the Eskie. I don't put any near his eyes though - nor near mine - can't tolerate it.
