What Breed is Roxy

Hey, this is my new rescue, Roxy. I got her from some people that kept her tied up all the time. She had never been on a walk, played with toys or gotten much attention at all. She has adjusted fabulously to living in an apartment with our other animals. Shes a sweet little dog, permenently wiggling and trying to lick you! I don't know what breed she is but my best guess is sheltie and husky. She's small, only 20 lbs. What do you think?

It is possible this is a purebred Sheltie. Shelties do come in a coat colour called Blue Merle which is what Roxy is, and the Merles often have blue eyes. As for the ears standing straight up that also happens often, they are not always tipped down.

Sheltie Coat colours Look under Blue Merle at the dog named "Candy"

I double she is pure sheltie. My other dog, Tulip is a sable merle sheltie. She doesn't have the coat texture or temperment of a sheltie. She's gregarious, and super social. But, one thing is for sure, shes a sweetie. We get stopped everywhere we go to ask what kind of dog she is!

Haha... yeah there is a difference. My other dog,Tulip is a purebred, but shes oversized, has erect ears, and not enough coat. But, I think she's beautiful!

I would guess that if your pup isn't that old then the coat is still changing and in the last pic they look like mother and daughter!

She's about a year...people do ask us if they are related, though Roxy is about half the size. I find her coat is getting a lot softer and she's losing the dead stuff, as she gets healthier. She was pretty matted and dirty when we got her. Its fun to watch her come out of her shell.

Seeing your other pic thread Roxy's ears are def not sheltie....more Sibe or Mal, I do see Sibe in the face but still not quite there...I'm reminded of another breed but I can't think of what

What pretty eyes she has! I would say she is pure cuteness! In fact you must change her name to "The Cuteness" Seriously though, I'm stumped. Looks like there may be some husky in her, does she have the "roo roo" type bark ?

I think your awesome for rescuing her ! Is she hooked on toys now? I peg her to be a Ball and Frisbee gal . She looks super happy in her new home

She whines more than she barks...and if she does bark its high pitched. She likes balls and sqweeky toys, or anything Tulip wants. But her favorite thing to do is harass Tulip. They wrestle and play non stop. She loves to tackle Tulip, get her down on the ground, then get a big chunk of her ruff and shake it! Tulip is very patient She seems to be high on life, just happy and constantly curious

She's aboslutely adorable

When I first saw the picture I immediately thought of Australian Shepherd. Since Aussies have such a large variance in size, theres a distinct possibility she could be an Aussie/Husky X. No matter what she is, she's got the most mesmerizing eyes

Oops, forgot to include a link. I saw this Aussie/Husky mix when I did a quick search, and the features look similar.

Crazy, did you know there is a company that does genetic testing to test your dogs breed mix? Hilarious...I wonder how accurate it is. Anyways its too expensive, but still kinda cool

I have an Australian Shepherd and a Border Collie

I've heard about the genetic testing, always thought it would be something fun to get done with my previous dog who was Border Collie mixed with I don't know what. We always guessed lab, but would have been fun to find out.

I've heard some positive and negative experiences with the genetic testing. One guy got the results on TV, and they made perfect sense when he thought about it. It's still too pricy, but definitely interesting!
