if two dogs get stuck and rip apart before their finished what injury can it cause?
My dog is a 3 year old fixed male and my girlfriend has a 3 year old un fixed female, their is about a 40 pound size diffrence between them, and last time she was in heat they got stuck for a few secods, she dragged him across the room and ripped apart from him, it was very painful for them and I am sure it could cause injury, so im not going to allow it to happen again.
Does anyone know what injuries could occur from two dogs ripping themselves apart before their finished? Any knowledge anyone could share would be very helpful. Untill I know for sure theirs no harm that could be done im keeping them under supervision. Thanks. |

Yes. Both dogs can get hurt, even neutered males, as you've found out. Best solution would be to have the fem spayed. But for now, you'll need to keep them apart. Probably both dogs should be checked out by a veterinarian for injuries.

The obvious and best solution would just be to spay her. That should solve most of your problems. If you let this go on for too long, even if it's not harmful now, it can cause some serious behaviour problems in the future.
Going into heat continually is just not health for cats or dogs. They can get a pyometra, so there is that to think about as well.
