I am looking for brand names of raw........

..... for kitties. My Pet Valu may be one of the ones picked to test out frozen raw to see how it sells. When I was in there today the manager was asking what brands I would like to see. I don't know what is out there so thought I would go to the best place possible for this type of info. She also said not to get too excited. It can take up to six months from starting to talk about new things coming till they are actually here. I still have my fingers crossed.
So....... need some good brand names please. Thanks everyone!!

Here are some brands that I know of:

Nature's Variety (also makes kibble and dehydrated dog and cat foods)
Healthy Paws (made in Toronto)
Pawsitively Raw (I think that's the name)

I feed Healthy Paws to my dog and I sometimes give my kitten the rabbit medallions for cats when he's in the mood.

Aside from Nature's Variety all the companies I'm familiar with/know of produce locally here in BC, however a couple do already have retailers in ON, they may be open to more locations:

Club Canine is a local BC company that produces raw dog and cat food, they do have 1 retailer in Ontario. I do feed Club Canine on occasion - Duffy loves the Salmon dogfood (there are no veggies in the dog food, she doesn't like the veggies in the cat meals)

Fresh Start local BC company produces both cat & dog food, also already have 1 retailer in ON. I've not fed this brand.

Amore Pet Foods local BC company produces both cat & dog food, has several retailers in ON ~ including Global. I've not fed this brand.

Urban Carnivore is based out of Saskatchewan, but they do supply a number of Ontario stores, including Pet Valu. That one shouldn't be too hard to get.

Arusha Pet Foods is from Alberta, and my all-time favourite Red Dog Deli, is made in Vancouver, but I'm willing to bet there are a large number of Ontario-based raw suppliers that would be easier to access. If you click on the "Go! Ontario" button in the left column of this website, it brings up a list of all things raw-related which might be helpful: http://lepusreg.tripod.com/NRS.html

When I started the transition from canned to raw I bought medallions at Pet Valu called "Urban Carnivore" - It is Made in Canada (my vets office sells it as well). The thing I liked about it was there wasn't any fruits or veggies in the patties I would buy.

Here is a website I found that I would like to order from but shipping would be too much for me (if they would even ship to Manitoba) http://www.momofood.com/store/index....s_all&fcPath=1

I personally prefer Pawsitively raw over Nature's Variety. It is made in the GTA area and is much fresher than Nature's Variety and ALL my cats have preferred Pawsitively Raw. It has some nice crunchy bones for kitty oral health and no fruit and veggies.

We're feeding Urban Carnivore right now.

Jake and Daisy's is another brand that my local store sells. Canadian as well.

Thanks for all the help gals! I will take this list down to the manager of the store. I guess Ontario is a little slow getting raw in if the other provinces already carry it in PetValu.
The manager is slowly coming around to thinking better food quality. I don't know if my talking to her all the time has anything to do with it or not but it's very nice to see.
