New Member - pets in my past, pets in my future!
Hi there!
I am new to this forum. I currently have a 1 1/2 year old domestic black cat and I am awaiting the birth of my Australian Shepherd puppy sometime in March. This is going to be my first dog that I have sole responsibility for. In the past, I have owned rats, fish, mice, gerbil, and a snake. I am always looking to expand my own personal zoo, and can't wait to do so! I can't wait to offer any advice that I can and I am MOST excited about hearing all of the advice YOU guys/gals have to offer! |

Welcome to the board, missc89! How exciting about the new puppy!! We'll need lots of pics of the little tyke when s/he arrives!
In the meanwhile, we need pics of your kitty! We love pet pics and if we don't get any, we'll not only whine, we'll hound you unmercifully... (Okay, okay, so maybe I overstated that. We won't really hound you much, but we will whine...a lot! )

Hazel, I WISH I could upload photos of my fur-brood! Why doesn't the forum accept normal-sized pics? I don't know how to reduce them so I can post them.

Normal is a weird word when it comes to pics for the internet.
A normal size internet pic for me is 800-1000 pixels wide.... and its filesize is 100-300k. This means you should be able to see the whole picture without scrolling on most laptops and larger What comes out of your camera is made for printing and is 10-20X larger. If you upload that image as is to ANY site except a photo site like flickr...there are often issues because the file looks too big (you need to scroll to see the dog's tail then again to see its head) and takes too long to load. So you need just simple - free software to reduce the image. Lightroom, photoshop, photoshop elements are the big boys here and cost a bit of $. Gimp.org is a free powerful program that can do most of the important things people use powerful graphics programs for. irfanview.com is fairly simple and does the task well and fast and without much confusion. here's a simple tutorial and I'm Pming you my email address as well just in case you need help. http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?p=565013 Cheers
