mine is my Russian 'home' name - in Russia we have the formal name and the home name.... so someone named 'Alexander' as the proper name, would actually be called 'Sasha' by all friends and family. My 'proper' name is 'Maria', my home name is 'Masha' Great thread idea!!!! cant wait to see what others say

when we first got our computer 16 yrs ago we were told to never ever use your real name *L* so I used Melinda, that name came about when hubby and I started dating when we were 15, he was very shy and didn't want his "buds" to know who he was dating so when they'd ask he'd say "Melinda Belinda".....and I wondered why when I finally met them they kept calling me that *L* the odd one still calls me Melinda (affectionately) to this day, 37 yrs later.

Mine is pretty obvious, and boring. When I joined.... oh my gosh!.... three years ago now, I had 14 kittens and knew there were many many more around that needed to be trapped and fixed. That's where the "+" comes from. I was looking for a low cost s/n program. I'm happy to say that a wonderful member provided me with the name of one. I am forever grateful for that information.
Mmmm, wonder what it's like to only have 14 kittens.............

Did you dance with your girls DD?
I think after this length of time people are used to the 14+. Hate to throw them off by changing it now. Besides, wouldn't know what to change it to.

The day I found this board...almost a couple of years now??? I was an angry person who was having problems with my pet insurer. I had googled something...cant remember what now....brain is getting older too!! and found this site. I had to come up with a name fast....and lacking any imagination, I called myself after my sick baby....now doing great btw. Thanks to the many great friends I have made on this board, I have now evolved into "QMC". Much shorter and makes me feel like I belong.

Yes 14+ we used to dance with the dogs, but not line dancing or anything... We'd dance and they'd jump all over and bark like fools. I wouldn't want you to change your name either, those of us who know you have done the math and know that 50+ is more like it you amazing woman you! You could make it KittyGuru or something though. KittyGoddess...Kitty saviour...

QMC - I agree the abreviations we all use now does make it feel very "comfortable" doesn't it. This is a nice thread.

Cool thread idea, I've always wondered about the story behind some of the monikers here.

Sugarcatmom came about because my main squeeze of the furry kind is a diabetic cat, also known as a "sugar cat" in feline diabetes circles due to extra-sweet blood.

Mine is more complex but boring too. When we started breeding Australian Stockhorses we wanted an Aussie prefix, and because we had a house in Stawell, which is an old goldfields town, we chose Goldfields. (They still mine for gold there.) Managed to fluke having it accepted by the Welsh Mountain and Australian Pony Stud Books, then also as my Canine Council prefix for Australian Cattle Dogs and Shelties. It also seemed appropriate when we are surrounded by fields of gold for so many months here, dry grasslands and fields of barley, oats etc.. We sold the house in Stawell but since then they have drilled and found gold a mile behind this property, so still it fits. I used it here because I'm getting old and forgetful. It comes to mind easily. LOL.

Mine came about when I adopted 2 10 day old pigeon chicks, and needed to learn how to care for them. I went searching for forums, and joined a few pigeon-specific ones, with the name TwinTails (for the two babies I had). I found this one at the same time, and decided to join it with the same name. I knew I would always have pets, so the name fits, as well as being the title of a series of children's books I've written Most people call me TT, which suits me just fine (real name is Tara, so it's not a far stretch, lol).

Mine is boring as well . Just my first name and the first initial of my last name.

Cool thread . Some of the reasons I knew before but not others.

Sugarcatmom, I especially enjoyed your reasons .
