Unhappy Lost Black & White short hair Cat in Nanaimo BC

Hi. My 10 year old cat went missing from our new rental on Caldwell St (Right across from Upland's school) just three days after we moved in.

I'm wondering if anyone has seen a cat like this wandering around. He does have an ear tattoo but I think it is associated with my old phone number ending in 9924.

At the time he went missing he was wearing a pink reflective collar with a heart shaped mauve tag inscribed with his name, MOUSIE, and my current number. He was also wearing a purple flea collar.

Mousie is a fairly small tuxedo dsh. His most distinguising features are a black tail tipped in white, pink nose with small black mark, teary eyes, and a black spot on his chin. His black spots are mostly along his back with one perfect black circle on his chest/tummy area. He is very friendly and loves to be fussed over and brushed.

Could you please let me know if you have seen a cat like this wandering around? We moved from the Departure Bay beach area and he may be trying to go back there. I love him very much and miss him terribly.

I live in Nanaimo... have you been in contact with both the SPCA and the Nanaimo Animal Shelter? You could also try CatNap - http://www.catnapsociety.com/

Hope you find him soon!

If you can put his litterbox and/or a worn but unwashed t shirt or pair of smelly shoes of yours out on the deck this may help lead him home

Go around the neighbourhood at dusk/dawn calling him, rattling a treat container or tap a spoon on his dish or tin of food. Bring a flashlight to pick up the shine off his eyes from under cars/decks/bushes or up trees.

If you can poster the neighbourhood, plus leave one w/ local businesses, grocery stores, vets & all animal shelters in the area that will help garner attention that this boy has a home who wants him back

Contact the vet clinic/shelter that originally tattooed him & ask them to update the file to include the current phone # & address, that way if the collar becomes lost & someone traces the tattoo they will have the correct info.

Thanks. I have called the shelters, but now need to visit them all.

I have left out his kitty litter and my regular shoes. I am just wondering if it will make it that much harder to find his way home since we only just moved here? We lived at out last place his entire life, 10 years.

I enjoy reading all the great threads that end in people being reunited with their pets. They give me the most hope... and I noticed that a lot of the time it is simply the pet deciding it is READY to come home.

I sincerely hope Mousie is just out having a great time exploring the new neighbourhood. But it is now getting so cold and wet... I want him snuggled in bed with me where he belongs!
