Pheasant Feather for Cats

I've discovered pheasant feathers have turkey and goose feathers beat all to heck when it comes to playing with my cats. I think it's because they are much more flexible.

LOL, there was a cock pheasant feather lying right out in plain view on the trails where I was walking the dog so, of course, besotted cat owner that I am, I picked it up and kept it. Not so silly, really. Pheasant are not native here, too cold in winter. There are some farmed and a local area releases some for hunting. Maybe one of those survived the hunt, shed a feather on my trail and I was lucky to find it.

Anyway, it's been such a success as a cat toy that I went on line to see if somehow I could get more. Looks like not. They are sold for crafts and fly fishing. And I could not find a game farm near me. I do believe some are raised locally but it must be for private consumption. If you find one, grab it for your cats.

Our local Petsmart sells a pheasant-tail-feather-on-a-stick toy that JD really loves! I've taken the label off, but something tells me it was one of the Natl Geographic toys. I know I used to see them on Amazon, too, but when I looked last month, I couldn't find any...so maybe they've been discontinued.
