Just read this through. I agree with BenMax. If you and your vet are wary of putting your dog under because of her age, the SPCA had no business insisting you have the procedure done, especially if her teeth are fine other than the tartar.

Putting an animal at risk of dying for a procedure like that seems to be contrary to what the SPCA is for.

Please find attached pictures of my beloved dog.
They were taken a while ago. I will take a picture of what her teeth looks like if I have a chance.

I have just talked to couple vets and they told me that a blood test could be taken prior to dental cleaning to ensure she's fit to go through anesthesia.

That said my vet suggested to me that there are some places that will do dental cleaning without anestetic. My girl is 12 and could use a cleaning as well, but like you I don't want to have to put her under to do it. Good luck to you on this. I honestly think I would be asking a higher authority though about the ability of the SPCA to force you to clean your dogs teeth. All that said, I know that BenMax is very informed on doggy issues and would trust her emphatically, but I'd still be telling them to take a hike. My vet also recommended we use Dentabones or greenies for her teeth (but I've heard mixed things on greenies).
I agree.if you live in the USA they can't do that!!!! why was an inspector there to begin with?

If you are in the interior of BC, you should take the issue up with Robert Busch (his email and phone numbers are on the BC SPCA website). I have many years personal experience with the man, and he his very good at getting to the bottom of issues (you can also PM me if you would like to discuss anything further).

Oh and your girl is a doll! I just want to give her a bear hug and snuggle in all that fur

Gorgeous dog

If you're in the GVA why would any city council have issue with you putting up a fence? I know of no bylaw stating you can not put up a fence.

There are only bylaws that restrict the height of the fence

Are you renting? Have you contacted your landlord about fencing options?
