Pet Store puppy ban

http://www.ctvbc.ctv.ca/servlet/an/l...shColumbiaHome

A pet store puppy ban has been put in place in Richmond, BC, in an effort to squash puppy mills and unscrupulous backyard breeders. I hope this effort is done in tandem with an outreach and education program.

I was at the council meeting last night and there were some very powerful speakers last night. I do hope that this heads to other cities/provinces. We do have many groups who do work hard to educate, including the SPCA. I do as many educational booths as I can for No Puppy Mills Canada locally as well.

This is a wonderful move by city council. If you have the time please send them a thank you note: mayorandcouncillors@richmond.ca

Brilliant I hope every province adopts this law. Just imagine how this would help to eliminate so many dogs in rescue and shelters.

Wow that's progressive thinking and action

We could use some of that here in Montreal big time. (Montreal is VERY progressive in many ways but not when it comes pet matters versus profit)

Now that is doing something really pro-active--I certainly hope it spreads!!! I cringe when I see dogs and cats in pet stores--just makes me ill.
